Sorry general can't agree, just because people speak against the situation doesn't make them bigots, they may just be realists that have come to see the situation for what it is. Embarrassed is what I would be if I feel that I've been totally disadvantaged for 100 or so years , and still today keep displaying behavior and habits that are obviously detrimental to positive change, the entire time insisting that more money and handouts will solve my situation.
That should be embarrassing.

You can call it anything you want but a lot of these posts are racist and the kind of ignorant indifference to any race that's not staring at you in the mirror should never be tolerated anywhere.

I do not see how anyone can support any long term government handout program no matter what the root cause or what the program is. These systems turn into a dependecy whether intentional or not. I have worked in nothern Albeta construction for over 25 years and the waste is brutal. From mandatory hireing to % quota of crew size once you get the job to 25% budget increases if you know who gets hired.
My grand parents came here with a suitcase and an axe, my youth to 11 was spent without power or water. My grand parents, my parents, myself and my children will continue to pay for the waste to support the proud. Through hard work, education and more hard work there is no one in my immediate family who has not done well. Feel sorry for yourself for generations??? KMA
I am proud of my heratage and try to pass at least a little to my children but we are Canadin first, I have no use for anyone who bleeds society. This is not racisim this is real life.

not true! for some yes for other's no... fly here, land here naked on a beach with no passort they don't care... all you have to say is that your claiming refuge status and good old Canadian tax payer is once again on the hook! seems like forever too... then get your landed immagrant statues and even if you break our laws we can't get ride of u!

ok... but how then do some bands have signed treaties and then turn around and want more? Some bands have reserves as part of their treaty... a few years back they go to the Supreme Court and say they need more land cause its "their traditional hunting ground". Now suddenly off reserve they demand all the jobs on "their traditional hunting grounds" now just called traditional land and we bend over and give it to them...this happens all over in areas where we have signed treaties? how many of you in North have seen heavy equiptment guys go broke because they can no longer get the contracts if the band wants them? How many of you have heard the rumours of bands demanding 10-15% of contract price if you want to do the work? Sounds like mafia business to me... Jobs, weather its hiring or contract should be a closed bid system... just like the construction industry oh and if undercut your competition then ask for more money you should be forced to finnish the job or go broke trying... Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

I really think Harper needs to stand up and say enough. I find the more money we give to the natives the worse off they are. If I was native I would be so incredibly rich, and not because I would be crooked, but because of the huge opportunity that is given to these people on all fronts and especially in the oilfield.
I guess the only silver lining to giving them all this free money is that they inject it back into the economy really fast.

If Harper has any blame to share on this issue is that he has not stood up and explain to the public why he is not willing to meet with this crooked Chief by outlining all the money that is being wasted in her little town and make her to explain why. He has a chance to throw it right back at her.

Even if they were in a position where they werent recieving enough funding..........why is it up to us to take care of them? Why dont they go and get jobs and repair their own roofs? If there are no jobs up there.......then move to where there are jobs. If they choose to live on thier traditional lands, then why cant they live traditionally? No, they want the best of both worlds. Sit around on their traditional lands while we work our arses off to pay for it. And they STILL complain that we arent giving them enough. Time for a change.
And yes I agree that this is Harpers chance to turn the situation back around on them and use this as a foothold to make positive change for the average Canadian.

There should be an inquiry, just like they do when polititions bake the books with expense abuse.
