Ever wonder why gas is cheaper in the US yet they import the oil from Canada? Me thinks somebody hasn't woke up and smelled the coffee yet.

The reason IS because you pay less in government taxes at the pumps in the USA. Canadian government have to collect more taxes to make 10 billion dollar payments to Indian and Northern Affairs each year as well as 23 billion to set up the new immigrants that come into the country each year.

How does the States treat the natives down there?I think they get shut down right away if they start complaining.I know a few hard working indians and even they are embarrassed of the lazy ones that bitch and complain and expect handouts but still bitch about the white man!It might be time to dissolve the treaty agreements and get rid of the reserves! It has been over a hundred years since some of it was agreed upon!

I'd like to know how many people protesting this bill c-45 actually really know what it is cause I've tried to read up on it and there is no clear information you can find.
Honestly I'd be willing to bet 80-90% of the protesters probably only know what their other protesters are telling them.

If I spent an hour trying to read up on it and cant clearly understand it and I'll bet over 90% of what the protesters know is hear-say its all a hyped up bunch of bullch!t bandwagon jumping.

From what I can see the government wants the Indian Bands to be accountable for the money they get, obviously this is only to ensure they actually get the friggin money. How many times have we had to hear about all the corruption and mis-managed money with their Indian Bands? MAybe they should open their minds and re-search this to see its actually something the government is doing to help them.

Really the bit of info you can find about the environmental impact of this bill is so little I cant believe they can even use this as propaganda to excite people. Last time I drove through a reserve there was garbage and scrap vehicles everywhere maybe they should start looking at their own environmental impact.

22 changes in the budget bill fine print - Politics - CBC News

If this article is true what these Indians are protesting is a total joke. The basis of their whole argument is that the government is stealing their land, all they are doing is opening it up so they can lease or sell a portion of it if they all vote they want to. Its only creating an option for them to potentially make a profit off of lands they may not use for the next 200yrs. Basically it's letting them use the land in a way that can allow them to become self sufficient. Or just build another casino, your choice.

The environmental impact thing is a crock, the government has over 10 different agencies protecting waters, why the hell would we want to waste tax dollars having transport canada with their fingers into controlling waters that can't be accessed by boats? All the government wants to do is wash their hands of caring about the changes that could happen to waters not fit for boats. Honestly, every province has 2-3 of their own environmental agencies policing industry not even taking into account the federal agencies like fisheries and oceans. Let them do what the work taking care of it.

This government has so much waste and soo many redundant agencies all stepping over each other like a group of ants its insane. I would be more than happy to see them trim the fat and become more friggin organized.

The Natives there are also protesting just last week there was a 2000 strong round dance in Seattle. And as for the treaties it was signed by both parties and it is the government that is wanting to change it all. Disolve the treaties is a bunch of crap just because you change your mind you cant change it. What would happen if all the treaties signed during the wars were changed. I am Native and pround of it.

Give me a break.

You keep stating that you work, you pay your taxes, and that you are a productive member of society. Yet you keep coming on here and defending the part of the system that DOES NOT work. You keep sticking up for the lazy, useless natives that give all natives a bad name........yet clearly state that you are not a part of that system???

Things need to change, and they are going to. The average hard working Canadian is tired of his/her tax dollars being squandered so I think is about time that we take a stand and do something about it.

You keep saying you are native and proud of it. Thats great. Its an important part of our Canadian Heritage. But how you tie that to continueing to support a system that breeds lazyness, alcohol dependancy, and waste is beyond me.

the problem we have in Canada is that we have too many special interest groups lobbying to support their bank accounts at the expense of the average tax payer. Time to cut all this out and everyone gets treated equally and pays their fair share of taxes to make our country a better place to live. If we all cut ourselves we all bleed red from the inside so not sure why the outside appearance of skin/ethnic background changes all of that.

I dont stick up for anybody that is a lazy drunk regardless of race. What i am sticking up for is my race and heritage. I know alot of natives that are hard working and enjoy the occasional beer. But just like any race there are ones that are lazy and are drunk. When i lived in dowtown Edmonton i seen way more drunk non natives along with all the crackheads who were also non native.
