Has anybody ran 8 or 9" wheels on the rear axle of their Axys? I got a 163 2.6 on warranty and will prob put on some 7 tooth Avids so I can run the track a bit looser, but was thinking about running a bigger wheel setup as well. All my track damage was in line with the rear wheels and the track was splitting (40+ spots). Also picked up clips to clip the new track, but the old track actually had very little wear on the non clipped windows (3000km). Allready have it geared down with Kurts kit and really like the setup now, so 8 tooth drivers are out. I think if a guy can just run the track looser and keep the pressure down around the rear wheels the splitting issue should go away?? PFA.

I have a set of 9" wheels going on mine for this very reason but also put on 8 tooth drivers. There is not much track adjustment so hope the offset rear axle gives me back the adjustment I lose with bigger wheels. I run the TKI so gearing down is easy to compensate for the 8 tooth.

What kind of 8 tooth drivers did you use? The Avid 8 tooth extro are only about 1/8” bigger than the factory drivers, so maybe that will be an option for me.

As I have the 2.6" track with 2.86" pitch, I just installed a complete steel axle out of an older Pro-Ride or it could have been from an IQ chassis??

So tried to install the 9" wheels but there is just not enough track for them to fit because of my 8 tooth drivers. I will try 8" next. I'm sure the 9" would be fine with the 7 tooth drivers.
