Biggest task probably gonna be towing a 6000 lb boat . Gonna be any big difference between these ? Is the 6.2 gonna be way better ?

I absolutely love my EcoBoost. Awesome mileage and tons of power. Will pull that boat like nothing. Salesman I bought it from said he and the other guys there have all had both the eco and 5 litre, and all drive ecoboosts now

Can't comment on the 6.2

I had a 2012 eco boost - towed a 27ft hyper lite camper weighed 4500lbs loaded up and my eco boost got 32L/100km towing and 11L/100km empty truck

1/2 ton, 5L pulls like a train, proven motor...been around for years. Getting 12L/100 for fuel mileage with my not so gentle foot.

Couple guys at work had some turbo issues with eco, 6.2 I've got nothing.

Have owned 4 eco boosts, suspect will pull the best, May last one was 2015.... 2 of 4 had throttle bodies fail so never went back have had 2 Tundras since.

All great choices and will get the job done .
Eco will pull the best hands down due to higher torque at lower rpm but will burn fuel towing like the other two choices as well .
One thing that makes a huge difference is the new 10 speed trans which will bump you into the newer model years .
Is it worth it ? You bet !!
My 2017 Denali 6.2 with 8 speed never have me any trouble but didn’t shift anywhere near like the 2019 eco boost with 10 speed . It’s unreal .
One thing also is the smaller fuel tank on the Generals which suck once used to the 132L on Ford .
Keep them on warranty is my recommendation as well .
Sucks the General followed the other two and dropped to 3 year 60k bumper to bumper and then only 5 year 100k powertrain .

Im not the eco's biggest fan when off warranty , had one and have worked on a few, expensive to fix and do seem to be not as reliable as the 5L, The 62 seems to be a good engine haven't worked on many ( that's a good thing ) haven't owned one have friends and customers that have them and like them,
:rolleyes:Why don't you step it up to a 3/4 ton and get fords 7.3 gas!!! Then you can give us your opinion on it!!!!

I've got a 2018 with the 5L and my work truck is a 2017 3.5 eco. I wish I would have bought the eco!

Are you asking about the 6.2 ford in the superduty or the GM 6.2? If you’re asking about the ford, the 6.2 will haul that easily and won’t burn much more fuel despite being in a bigger, heavier truck. If you get a superduty with the 4.3 rear end it will pull everything you want with it easily. The 2020’s have the new 10 speed as well which according to the reviews is a sweet transmission that works well. You rarely hear about problems with the ford 6.2. If you’re looking to keep the truck for a long time, it’s the engine of choice.

In all fairness after ready some comments, mines a 6 speed '16, the two guys at work, ones a '14 the other a '15...don't know what trans all 1/2 tons

They will all be 6 speeds . Didn’t put 10 speed in till the 2017 Raptor and then started adding them to certain models in 2018 forward . Expedition and such.

I had 5.0 f150 as well as an ecoboost, both towed good. I really love how my current 6.7 super duty tows, makes me wonder why I never went that route sooner.

That’s old school thinking. There is a replacement it’s forced air induction. But that being said I think a big motor will last longer then a small boosted motor.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3.

But I like both of the Ford motors, both the 3.5 and 5.0 pull hard and work well with the 10 speed transmission. In my experience the 3.5 gets a little better economy empty on the highway though, like 12.5 L/100km vs 14 L/100km for the 5.0, but honestly not enough of difference to really matter. I never had a chance to test them towing though, but I think either would pull a 6,000 lb boat with ease. The 5.0 does have less components to fail though, and of course comes with the typical high revving V8 sound. Honestly though I'm not sure which I'd buy, I like both.

If you wanted to spend a pile of money the F150 Limited comes with the same 450 hp ecoboost engine as the Raptor, not even the mighty 6.2 would touch that thing.

In order to get a chev 6.2l you need a loaded up truck so will be very costly if you don’t want a loaded unit.

My next half ton is probably gonna be a Ford due to its high payload. Have a dmax right now and before that a 6.2l chev
