Hey ended up buying a 4H beef and throwing it out if anyone is interested is splitting it. Going to the butcher today, will be some nice meat. Will deliver to Edmonton area.

Any good suggestions on charities I could donate some? Don't have room for it all

Should be about 5800.00 finished, so would like to get rid of 2 of 1/3 rd portions, so take that and divide by 3 . Pm me your number if really interested. Looking for commitment soon

it weighed in at just over 1200 lbs

Things have certainly gone up. If I get this right it cost around $1,000 to get it cut and wrapped?

Last year at the Caroline 4H sale Clayton Cole told me they got over $5/lb on the hoof for the grand champion. Highest in the country he said.

It's a great program and all 3 of our kids benefited from their time in it My wife was a leader for many years and I have judged many 4H shows over the years all over western Canada. It is a great program , and more city kids need it...lol.
sometimes big buisness throws their money around in it ... But they usually spend PR dollars on stupider chit anyways.... So .

A number of years ago our daughters steer was champion at Calgary stampede, the buyers bought it for well over 35000$ and donated the steer back to be resold again...with the 35000$ going straight to STARS....it was a great to see that support and our family is very proud & thankful of that day !

At the conclusion of every 4H show I judged I would always remind the potential buyers of this :" I am not gonna tell you buisness folk how to spend your PR $$$ , but I can sure in hell tell you .... These kids won't be busting in to your house at 4 :00 AM to steal your stuff for drug money...."

Anyways , the beef will be the best you will have and I thank you for the worthy cause !!! Good on you ....

so your daughter donated her 35k to stars then? I just don't think it should be turned into a $$ show. It boils down to a few or two bidders trying to out due each other in the end. If big business truly wanted to support our clubs and the cause then they would help fix up our falling down club houses such as Bute hall, where our Rocky South club is actually meeting at tonight as I type this. It's a fricken wreck.

No , it was Grad Walker... Stan Grad the founder of stars....
I hear ya Darcy , fact is that's the way the big boys play.... A few pieces of pie is better than an empty plate...

I don't always agree with it , but none the less ,I am thankful for any support that the kids receive....
