So today after calling 3 different tire shops and visiting my local dealer looking for 28" zillas I called Mid America Motoplex in Sioux Falls and they are able to get some for me if I decide to go through. Stock tires on my 800 are 26x8x12 on the front and 26x11x12 on the back which I wouldnt mind staying with that width. But I talked to them and he says they only have 27x9x12's for the front and 27x11x12's for the rears. Otherwise he said if I want to go with 28's I had to go with 28x10x12's on the front and 28x12x12's on the rear. It seems to me a 10" tire is really wide for the front.

I told him I would probably need spacers with the 28's he quoted me so he shot me a deal to the tune of $30 a tire off for the 27's. My question is what do you think about the size of 28's he quoted. I know zillas will actually be about an inch less than stated but so are my stock tires.

Other questions I have are will I need a clutch kit right away with 27" tires? How will 10" wide tires on the front handle/turn in tight spaces and trails? Would I need a lift kit to run 28's? What size of wheel spacers would I need to run the 28's he quoted me? What is everybody else running for widths? Plus any other advice or pics would be good.

Thanks in advance.

With the 28`s you will not need a clutch kit, same for 27`s of course. I don`t think you will need spacers for that size tire,i am not 100% on that but pretty sure. As far as handling goes ,you will not even notice the difference on the stock rims. NOW ,if you add spacers (or offset rims) steering will be harder and a litle sluggish.Try and keep it on stock rims and you will be fine....You will not need a lift for 28`s either....

Are those 28's on your 850 gade? must be 14" rims cause they dont look so wide on the front. I like the 12" rim from the aspect of the tire staying on the bead better when we are in the black hills rock climbin.

I could get the narrow tires but I have to go with the 14" rim

Those are 30/11 `s front and back. I would go with the 28`s for sure then...The 9 inch come off the bead fairly easy.

I put 27" zillas on my Outy 650, 2011. Need spacers on the front for sure, otherwise they rub the tie rod end. 28's would fit as well, spacers on front of course. I kind of which I went 28's to be honest.

My friend put 26" zillas on his Gade 800, he needed spacers on the front as well.

My buddy has a 850 xp with 28" zilla's on 14" stock rims, they are fine. He does have some issues with tight cornering in the tight bush tails though, lol. Thsoe xp's dont trun that sharp, thats to be expected with bigger tires though...

gotta do some more measuring but just by looking the 28x10x12's for the fronts are gonna stick out a ton. I have a hard time imagining what they will look like. I dont want to scuff or chip the paint on the outside of the fender because the tires are sticking out a ton but I will have to think about the payoff.

I put 27 - 9 on the front & 27 - 11 12" onthe rear with itp rims on the 500 outy (already had fender extensions on) and no problems. Put 28 - 10 on the front & 28 - 12 12" on the rear with itp rims on the rzr s. Definatly need fender extensions, really throws the mud. Handles good and might have lost a little turning radious, but nothing serious.

Digging this one back up!

Called around to my local dealer and vendors and everybody is high priced. Found mudthrowers.com and priced a set of 14" SS212 black rims and 28x9x14 front and 28x11x14 rears. $900 At my door step. However, I was talking to the people there and they acted like I would need a 2" lift, Is this the case? I have measured and it looks like it will be close but SHOULD clear everything. The thing I worry about is I have only seen 28" mounted without a lift on an 850XP. Was wondering if much changes when I go back to my 800?
