New ski is shaved at the back and cut off at the back, same front , there is a jig to do this to older ds4 skis...at dealer probaby, i still like the ds3 ski better. all these parts are not available till fall 2024 so lots of time for the accessories and part numbers. cheers dave

I suppose you are correct. BRP doesn't even have the functionality yet to be incompatible.

The more guys buy the Polaris Trail Tech unit, the longer it will take for brp to get any traction if / when they do come out with the functionality though. It's too bad really, huge missing opportunity for them here. For the whole industry really, to have an open platform for group ride tracking.... The next generation of back country safety really. Not significantly different than the transceiver industry standardizing a digital signal that works universally between all brands.

This surely isn't just on BRP though. I would have a hard time believing that BRP didn't at least attempt to come to an agreement with Polaris over the tech. Maybe they didn't, and I'm just dreaming.

imagine if there was a system that existed already that worked universally and no one had to share any "tech" , oh wait, there is.

hopefully the big 3 will get their stuff together in the future, but for now at least if each brand can see each brand at least thats a step in the right direction.

100% - People buying trail tech units are not the reason BRP hasn't offered it. Pretty sure the same tech was used by Garmin on the Rhino 530 in 2002.

exactly, the only difference between the rhino system and the trailtech is that the garmin would ping the postition through radio when you pressed the talk button. The trailtech just does it automatically at a specified interval so its always "live" on everyones screen.

and you know what, trailtech certainly didnt buy that tech from garmin ill tell you that for free. Because they didnt have to. Sending data over radio is OLD tech and theres tons of ways to slice it.

you could do a "group ride" in the marine industry 20 years ago

The 23/24 drivers look like they should be flipped 180° to work better. The window nubs are angled on the drive side. More vertical on the coast side.

Indeed. The major difference I am guessing, is that the trail tech is securing the data somehow, and this makes it impossible difficult for other companies to tie in to.

I've got a trail tech on order now. I'll have to spend some time with it to see if it's transmitting encrypted data or not.

The flange surface where the driver fits on the shaft is thicker/wider on either side to give more surface area.
The profile of the tooth is taller and wider apparently, so the track can be run looser, but there is not a difference shown in the pics that I can see.
Could be a much cheaper alternative to avids or PF, it would be interesting to look at one and compare.

If your planning on putting it on a doo without a battery, let me know. I have some battery packs left over that work decent.

I am curious what the holdup is for the cat and the doo buddy tracking is, CRTC maybe? Cost on the manufacture end for a encrypted radio license just for mountain guys?
