I have a cat but I am by no means a "cat guy". The alpha is not for me at all, tried one and I just couldn't get comfortable, especially on the trail. Not sure what I will buy next, but it won't be a cat with a mono rail.

Thats because the Doo guys rode the little bus to school when they were young, not much else in life makes them feel more important then being on a handicap built machine. On the other hand it also dubs as mobility device for some elderly folks needing some form of out door activity, its just that good and easy to use.
Beauty of sledding, its all inclusive, if you can't ride, get a Doo, it will DOO IT FOR YOU.

Anyhow, back in the snow after being out of the game for 6 weeks, you handicaps and old farts enjoy your internet highmarking LOL

I have both a cat and a doo, both turbo machines, the cat has tons done to it and works very well mechanically, but has one massive flaw….. it’s an alpha. I can ride but absolutely not a fan of that monorail, it’s as queer as a 3 dollar bill. The g5 expert turbo is so much more fun and is pretty much a stock machine

honestly i do not care, i have paid millions in taxes and if it went to building me a bad A$$ sled im fine with that, rather than pillaging it away over seas. Finally something tangible done with my taxes

I have to update that line from many years ago. Now they are Taxpayer Funded, Separatist- Concocted Pieces of $hit! 😂😂😂

I too have both. However, I still prefer the Alpha handling. The G5 is growing on me though. An XM riding buddy has had to borrow the Alpha the last few rides. He took to it right off.

I can see tmotion guys liking the alpha , the more little tweaks and changes I make to this g5 the better it gets, took some getting used to but it’s putting pretty big smiles on my face

isnt that a 146?
Its a 154 3".

I was finally able to get an answer on there stock gearing with the belt drive. 24/63 - 2.625 ratio. which is low. But Cat runs large drivers so there overall 1-1 shift is 116kmh. Polaris 9R is 22/50 - 2.27 ratio with smaller drivers, which equates to a 119kmh 1-1.

I believe the clutching is the main factor in what seems to be a slow revving bottom end.

Skidoo still has the superior gearing ratio (21/53 - 2.52 ratio) with small driver and a 1-1 shift of 102kmh.

Hopefully Kurt’s gear down comes with a gear set. Maxwell might have been right, I will be spending million bucks to beat him..

In this sport it’s not about money. It’s about beating your buddy. I have benefited from that for years. 😂

I have a buddy with a 23 154 turbo R and a 23 boost 155. He demoed the 600 Catalyst and said it handled night and day better than either the doo or poo and didn't have the issues he didn't like on his 19 Alpha. He snowchecked an 858 and is selling the G5.

i can never wrap my head around this handling thing. The best handling sled is the one you spend the most time on. they all have tracks, skis, engines and two clutches. the rest is on the operator
