Re: 2019 release dates ??

That doesn't make it a "stroker"... a stoker in the performance world is taking an engine with the original crank and adding long rods to increase the stroke. This can throw off the balance as the crank was designed with counter weights for the original stroke. I'd assume brp designed a new crank for this 850, making it a completely new engine and not a stoker. Just because the bore is the same and the stroke is increased, doesn't classify it as a stroker engine.

Longer rods don’t increase stroke. Only a change to the crankshaft will increase or decrease stroke.

I think OEM Turbo 2 strokes are in the near future . There is not a lot left that they can do. They’ve already lightened them as much as they seem to want to take them and they don’t seem to want to put much bigger cc engines in so I feel turbos are what’s next. As for cost it wasn’t that long ago that we were paying 9 to 10 thousand for a sled, and now we’re paying 16 to 17 thousand so I don’t think 20+ is going to make a difference. Just my opinion.

I always thought 'stroker' was a term describing a mod, not a completely new stock engine that happens to have the same bore. The 850 isn't just an 800R with a longer stroke like they did with the 800 V twin ATV engine to make it a 1000, is it?

I thought they would have looked at a fuel injected triple before releasing a stock 2 stroke turbo. With modern technology you would think they would be pretty bulletproof and be able to make some big power. Yes they dont compensate for altitude, but remember that the majority of snowmobile buyers are not riding at altitude. I think a 2S-T would be a nightmare for a manufacturer.

If you spin the clutches faster the fins on the clutch cool better. Duh

You must of gotten into some Doolaid for that comment, your starting to sound like a Dootard.

Maybe a new look for the Doo would be a good change for 2019. What an ugly duck...quack, quack

A stroker is any engine with added stroke from stock. 350 with a 400 crank and .030 overbore gets you the "383 stroker" everyone knows.

Re: 2019 release dates ??

Who cares whether it is "technically" a stroker or not? Same bore, longer stroke, different engine.....done.

To those who know more about engine building than I (which would be most), would a V triple be feasible? What if the engine was slightly V'd with the center cylinder sitting slightly forward, and outside cylinders sitting slightly backwards (or vice versa) to be able to narrow the engine up a bit to fit in modern mountain chassis'? You would be decreasing the bore size from the big twin, so the combination of smaller bores with offset cylinders could in theory produce a high powered triple that is the same width?

I am trying to get a job with BRP marketing or take Narona's job.

Can your sled do this?

If it can pop off concrete like that just imagine how it gets up in top of the snow.

Sure anything can be done but the fuel injection and exhaust would be a nightmare to layout compare to what is status quo.
