Just curious if anyone's played with one yet and what your thoughts are. I like the looks, and am considering getting one. Just want to know what mods are available and how they're working if left stock.

Thanks

ps: coming off a turbo'd M1000

They are the same except the King Cat has fox evol R shocks, team clutching, and 8 tooth drivers with a drop and roll for the 3" track. CR already has a straight pipe for them and a light weight battery is an easy way to shave 25LBS.

no personal experience but I know speedwerx already has a pipe out that will boost hp and save weight. plus they have a huge list of items they are currently working on that will make this already crazy sled that much better. this motor will put spin on the 4 stroke sled market.

It sure looked like it when I seen the one at alberta cycle. If not they are for sure the same as the sidewinder.

How is there so little talk of the king at and the sidewinder threads just keep going? Did nobody buy these things?

I almost bought the King Cat instead of the Side Winder but a couple of things made me decide on the Side Winder. #1, the mods i was going to do did not justify buying the King Cat, it would of pushed the overall cost higher then i wanted. #2, Yamaha had more platform options in this style (4stroke)then Cat.
IMO, if your going to do a build do your research, if your going stock either one will fit. They are pretty much the same sleds, so go with the dealer that you feel comfortable with and gives you the best service.

Do the yammies have the drop and roll for 8 tooth driver with the 3"? The better shocks? Narrower body and running boards? Never researched the Yammie because cant afford either but a fan of KKs. The KK is a 2018 sled that has pretty much gone under the radar. See one listed in Sask for 15G

2018s will, 2017 had the body work but not chain case or narrower boards.

Does the drop and roll and narrower boards make a big difference? Riding my 15 M with the 16 front end made leaps and bounds of difference. I do believe the narrowed up body panels will be another noticeable difference, but d&r and boards?

I would question that...? I think they do have the longer case and narrow boards

2017 yammies only have different panels, no drop and roll, no narrow boards

The 2017 Side Winder has the new style "NARROWED" body panels. Same as the 2018 models.
It does "NOT" have the slightly narrower boards, 1/2" on each side narrower or the D&R.
The King Cat was the fore runner on these for 2017 and for 2018 it was adapted to the Side Winder line, Yamaha.

IMO it is a personal decision, i do not believe one is better then the other. I personally went through a King Cat and decided on the Side Winder.
WHY...
the narrow boards are too narrow for my boots and when i put my foot in the foot well, my foot stayed stuck. Plus the A/C boards as some will find out really SUCK, not sure which one's are worst, Doo boards or Cat boards. Either way Cat needs to replace those junk boards.
If your a smaller stature the narrowed boards will work for what they are.

As for the D&R, not really sure why they did it, but i'm not sold on it. Especially after i have D&R a few sleds in the past. There are pro and con's to every thing, including D&R.

BTW, what sold me on the SW was the price, they are basically the same sled but i got the SW for $5000 cheaper then the King Cat.
The plan was to cut it up and mod it so why pay the premium.

drop and roll was one of the things they did to allow them to go back to an 8 tooth driver with the 3.0 track. As well it helped change the attack angle on the skid and is part of the reason the sled is supposed to get up on the snow faster. i haven't ridden one but apparently it is a noticeable difference.

Yea I own a 17 mtn cat which is my 5th proclimb chassis sled and it works so much better with the d&r and 8 tooth's. I made the mistake of trying an 18 out the darn thing Is so nice and refined and instant power
