Allan Creek (Mt Milton)

On Saturday, hiked and snowshoed to top of Mt Milton. Snowline looks to be anywhere from about 4500-6000ft depending on aspect. On north-east aspect, snowline at about 5000ft with perhaps 30cm at 5500ft, 60-70cm from 6000ft up to 7000ft. Did lots of hand shear tests between 6000ft and 7000ft on all aspects, and all showed surface hoar layer about 30cm from ground and another surface hoar layer about 20-25cm above that. And surface hoar was growing on the snow surface. +5 in sun on south facing slopes and surface snow moist.

Clemina (Morning Glory)

On Sunday, rode my ATV up to 15km at Clemina and then snowshoed up to ridge above Morning Glory. Snow begins on road just below 13km which is a bit above 5000ft. At 15km which is about 5500ft there was about 15cm of snow. Up at treeline at about 6500ft there was about 60-70cm. There was maybe 8cm of fresh from overnight at this elevation, which was sitting on a raincrust up to about 7000 feet. In some exposed areas the new snow had been blown into a windslab. If the fresh was wind-effected, it gave results in hand shear tests at the top of the rain crust. There was a result about 30cm above the ground in most tests.

Just came back from Climina. We drove to the Snow line at 13km mark but was melting fast due to the pouring rain. Never unload sleds due to the heavy rain fall. It was 5-6 degrees above freezing at 1500 meters of elevation. Unless the rain changes to snow it is a waste of time to come up right now.

Sure hate to be a debbie downer, but I know that many of you try to head out for your first ride of the year on this coming weekend. It has been incredibly warm here with very strong winds and this has skyrocketed the snowline.

We personally believe that there is no access to alpine in the Valemount area at this time. Clemina would have 10km of trail riding to the cabin thats it.....Allen would have no snow until very high up the trail (likely around 6km) and Chappell is a sure no go at this time.

Not the info we want to share, but we need to tell it like it is at this point.

Yep. I've been around town the last couple weekends in a row and it looks like late August. I've searched for all possible access routes to the alpine and it is not looking good at the moment November 15-30th forecast looks great though. Cold and snowy!

Hey guys and gals I'm back to ground zero , I was up in the Mac last 5 weeks doing some house renos but back home sweet home . I will continue with The TPow snow report from ground zero as soon as I have anything to post .
This weekend past we went up and gathered some fire wood for the lodge and I hate to say there wasn't any snow at 4000 ft but as Maxwell mentioned the later half of the month looks good . So I will continue to snow dance and a few smoke signals and we will see u all soon .
Lol

It was a great day for a wiener roast .

Just another very important heads up.

We will NOT BE OPENING the lower gate at Allen Creek this weekend. We know there is a very good chance that users will still try to drive up the road (which is no longer in shape for trucks) and we do not want our access destroyed by vehicle traffic.

Keep snow dancing

Some flatlanders heading up that way at some point in December. What's the base looking like. That area is sounding like there could be some good conditions after a few dumps this month.
