Bought this sled in 2013 and by no means am I really hard on it than other guys riding the same sled. That being said, I loved the E-TEC as they (Dealer) told me about all the benefits ( 6-8000 kms to be exact)...my engine blew at 3900 kms!! Wasn't impressed a all!!! That is my vent for the day. I decided to go with a big bore 860. Anyone have tidbits on what to watch for now? I am starting with the fuel commander. Thank in advance!! Cheers!!

Good oil (doo synthetic or Ipone) proper warm up. Had no problem with any of our group hitting 7000 to 8000 kms befor trading or selling.

What you doing as a proper warm up? On my p tek I would wait till I started to feel heat at the rear exchanger and I got over 12,000 Kms on the last motor with nothing done to it other than valve cleaning an ISO grease the pto and keeping the clutches in good shape.
Someone did tell me once that the e Tec still runs hot an lean.

Sorry PG. I wish I had something of use to say. From being an owner of the same sled/engine combination and watching the posts, the impression I have of ETEC overall for 2012 was that they seem to be above average for reliability. I only bring this up as your experience sounds unique so there won't be multiple answers from this site but hopefully there will be one correct one. It does sound like a fuel/oil issue. Good luck sorting it out.

did you fix the reason it blew up the first time, or did you just bolt in new parts and hope it wouldn't happen again?

what other info do you have, did it lean out, bad injector, weak fuel pump etc. piston locator pin come out, did your machine have the recall done, lots of information would help diagnose the issue

Found out that the oil pump wasn't supplying oil at mid - to high revs (6500 rpm)...and apparently this is not covered under the warranty. :(

Is there any way to diagnose this issue? Why did the oil quit at that particular RPM? Is there anything that can be dne to avoid it?
