2011 M8 bog

I have an 11 M8. Have a Bikeman torsional secondary, goldstar adjustable weights and an MBRP can. This has been my spare sled for a few years now but had to ride it last day last season in Revy. It had a bog if you tried to take off slow and easy but if you just pinned it it would get through it and run good. Over the summer I found a broken reed, and a bad APV cable. While I had the frnt end off noticed that the air box was full of oil too. Testing it this year it runs way better but still has the low end bog. Its like it is shifting into overdrive too soon and loading the motor. Is the oil in the airbox normal with these things and is it more than likely a sticky clutch roller or bushing? When this was my go to sled it always ran very very well, especially with the 162 2.6 PC track. Any other ideas?

I hate to say it but do you have your stock can to try? I have a 2011 HCR with a BMP can. It runs good (and sounds great) with the can but sometimes has a little bit of a bog. Not often, but sometimes. When I bought the sled the stock can was not included. I found a take-off on Kijiji for a great price. I had planned on using the stock can in more public areas where the noise may not be as tolerable by others. There is no bog with the big stock can.

Does it with stock muffler as well. Going to check clutches out.

Primary clutch was new about 1000km ago, and I put BDX rock rollers in around the same time so we will see. Thanks for the ideas, just trying to think outside the box.

Can's can cause issues with bogs in some sled's but if it was not an issue in the past that your aware of then it is probably not the can, especially how you explained the location of your bog.
It sounds like a clutch roller issue as mentioned, possibly the clutch staying hung up or sticking till it goes past the problem spot, I would check both for cleanliness and smoothness and also pay close attention to the primary weights at their base for indentation or flatness. I have seen many wear a dent at the point of initial contact causing similar issues as your explaining.
As mention check your secondary roller, they can seize up and get flat spots also.

Oil in the intake track is normal and nothing to worry about.

My low rpm bog on my 11 m8 didn’t go away until I did a stage 2 with some custom mapping, the better clutching, full exhaust, cold air intake coupled with better fuel map than stock really did take away any low rpm bog

I picked up a dam near new 2011 M1000 last spring, 111 miles, perfect, mint beautiful shape. The guy broke his hip 3 years earlier, and it hasen't moved since. I right away went full twin Jaws, intake, etc, etc, etc. I wanted to try something different such as the SSI, Promag weights which are the same as the Bikeman Goldstar, except they have 3 hole instead of 4. I wanted something more aggressive then the Dalton adjustables, I thought they would be easy to adjust too, nope. No matter what I did with the weights, I could not get rid off a massive bog from about 4300-6100. Tried, fuel, weight, nothing. So I went back to the Dalton adjustables, all bog was gone!! Runs now 1000%% better. Greg told me, run it at 7700, I have it at 7690. I am totally convinced that it pulls harder and longer than my 925BL in my 14 HCR. And it rips at 8600, massive torque.
So my point being, it isen't always fuel. It can easily be the weights profile ...was very disappointed with the Promags. just an FYI.

I have a 2011 m8 with the same low end bog/sputter. Almost like it loads up coming down a hill, burp it a couple times and it rips . Has a new primary and secondary is good. Frustrating!

Check over the oil pump rod from the throttle bodies and make sure it moves without sticking. I had one that was sticking before that caused the sled to load up

Secondary rollers are good, I took apart the secondary, cleaned and inspected all components. Seems to be all good. Will take the primary weights out next as Lund suggested to check for wear. I did compress it a little and rotated the rollers and weights to check for binding but never completely removed.




It was alot of oil, like 100ml. The sled was stored over summer with a full oil res, wondering if it maybe pressured up enough to push that amount of oil through the lines going into the reed block. Sled runs great though.

Any resolution yet? My sons 2011 HRC is terrible right now. I was told when I bought it the guy put in new reeds, but I’m having my doubts
