Electric start sleds have the bigger tank pull start gets the smaller tank

specs don't change on fuel tank size ....same size tank on ES as pull start

Mountain Cat 11.6
Alpha and Hardcore 11.7

seems odd that there would be .1 US gal difference between the two but that's what is in the specs.

Than they must of changed it, my 14 m8 es had a bigger tank than my 14 hcr pull start, I knew they changed the tank to a lighter one but i thought they kept the same specs

I heard the opposite.

yup, in 2014 ES had 12 gal, pull start and HCR had 11.5 gal

in 2015, both ES & PStart had 11.7 gal.....go figure.....???

Great job on the weigh in and video. Hopefully next year there will be some new models again. Would be cool to see a 175 Alpha , 850 poo 174 and a 175 doo with all new clutch venting for 2020.

Good job on the post numbers last night. Only 100 (+-) pages to go to be in the same category as the Sled Deck on a 1/2 ton thread.

What’s the big deal on this post count thing ??
Some on this site seem to just post useless info about nothing ?
Who cares if it hits 100 + pages as long as good thread which it is ?
Just asking as don’t get it ? Lol

Could it ever be bigger than a sled deck on a half ton?????

Actually, a good question. Back on page 32, I think, snochuk had the initial thought. I just thought I would update the info so snochuk would get an update this morning.

Great job. I’d like to see a doo or cat with a turbo and electric start if such a beast exists. Also a Sidewinder with different exhaust, possibly lw battery.....If such a beast like that exists. Be a little more comparable and reflective of what guys are riding.

Not a turbo Polaris that’s all in its own league with its weight and more fuel. Damn feather

So the summary is as follows:

All sleds full of oil, gas and coolant.

2019 Summit X 165x3 - 546lbs

2019 Freeride 165x3 - 556lbs

2019 Axys 850 163x3 - 531lbs
* had bumper / skid plate installed

2019 Alpha 165 - 553lbs

2017 Sidewinder 162x3 - 654lbs

2019 Axys 850 174x3 - 534lbs

** All sleds were started and driven.

Thanks for the summary. We can now extrapolate these numbers to get weights without fuel or weights with even amounts of fuel. This really is only important if one brand requires carrying an extra gas can when another is efficient enough or has a tank big enough to just rely on the gas in the tank. We have no idea if the new Polaris is going to be better or worse on fuel than the 800 version. I know the G4 is very good on fuel when trail riding but it can run through a bunch at full throttle. Generally my buddy's G4 used very similar amounts to my last AXYS. (within 2 litres/tank). What is the consensus on the c-tec when it comes to fuel economy? It too has a big tank and I doubt Cat riders need to carry extra fuel.

And Danny, every sled at the Edmonton show has some fuel in the tank. Nobody looks or cares as long as nobody is opening them. I have seen some with tape over the gas cap. WE could do your weigh-in with empty tanks. Just requires dumping them on their side before bringing them inside. Or do you think the Ski-doo and Yamaha guys would have a fit as it makes them look even worse?

Weights are good and all but and the end of the day it’s whichever machine performs best on the snow. And we know that is the skidoo 850

Sean, I agree but I have add a little to that statement. It's whichever machine performs best on the snow in the hands of a particular rider. Some of it is mental and a lot of it is talent. The mental part I hear lots is the steering component(s). Well get over that aspect and ride the sled. A talented rider will be able to over come that aspect and make the sled perform well once they have a little time in the saddle.

I know at the end of the day, I'm not bagged out on the Summit. The other sleds, to me, aren't as easy. Is it the 16" track, the balance, the torque, or what?
