I spent the last 10 days in the Okanagan and Hats off to the fire crews dealing with people's ignorance! Most of these fires lately are human caused, hwy 97 was shut down Wed and Thurs due to a fire at monte lake. Its suspected a cig butt thrown out the window.
I had to tell one person in clearwater water to put out a campfire, and put his charcoal BBQ away. I asked him if he knew that there was a camp fire ban and his answer was yes, but someone said it was ok due to the small downpour the night before.

The fire is plain stupid! But is a charcoal BBQ not allowed during a fire ban? I never used on as they seems like they would be a pain use so I haven't paid attention to if they are allowed.

Propane stoves and propane campfires only in that area, at that time. I checked before I left on holidays, I agree the charcoal BBQ is a pain to use when camping, using one in your backyard is alot safer than in a treed provincial park during these dry conditions.

Someone even gave us a hard time about our propane campfire one night and our flame was at a minimum.

Holy grap, Trudeau is going to Williams Lake today, bringing in the Army too. A little late to the party so to speak. Tweedle Dumb is there too and he left out Tweedle dee.

Just over a week ago the Fernie Fire Department showed up at a friends house because someone called in about their propane campfire, as there is currently a wood fired campfire ban. Fire guy said keep the flame below 6"...mainly because other people see the fire and think it's OK to have a campfire or they call the fire department...they don't realize its propane fed and they think its a wood fire.

The warden out at Lake Koocanusa this weekend also mentioned to keep the flame low so other uninformed people across the lake would not think it was OK to have a wood based campfire.
