In Alberta during a fire ban charcoal BBQs also get banned.

I remember a couple years ago we went to radium from peach land and going down whatever highway number it is from Golden to radium there was a fire right at the side of the highway started by a car fire. I'd never been so close to an actual wildfire.

So a fire restriction is different? The sign coming into Alberta says "Fire Restriction" and according to the Pass radio station, charcoal Q's are allowed. Doesn't make sense to me at they can be hot the next day and when you dump the ashes, there could still be sparks.

Correct. Restriction is lower than the ban.

Talked to several families at the sally ann that was over a week ago they were from Williams lake. Ran into some of them at the dog kennel I was working on. One family picked up their dogs bought a tent and headed to salmon valley. That was 4 days ago they where from Williams lake. So I would say half of William lake evacuated a week ago. I would like to know the true number of evacuees there really is, but that must not be news worthy. Still I bet it is shocking the numbers there are. NO News is Good news I guess.

37000 evacuees. Give or take a 1000.

"An estimated 36,600 people have been evacuated from their homes in B.C. as of Sunday afternoon, said Minister of Transportation Todd Stone, as wildfires continued to ravage the Interior."

Stone says 5,100 B.C. households have registered for support through the Red Cross, and 83 per cent of them have received their $600 in benefits as of Sunday.

Dave, so after the retardant lines are layed down, do the water bombers come in from behind and start saturating the area?

As I understand it, no. The Electras (or any other "water" bombers) don't fly through the thick smoke. They lay down the retardant as per the gov't rep....who filmed and posted that vid. They let the fire burn out within the already burning area...or the land fire fighters deal with it.
Edit: I put water bomber in quotes because I get the gears every time I use that term. They are "air tankers" or "heavy air tankers". And they drop "retardant", not water. (Water bomber sounds way cooler to me too...)

Edit2: I've met a bunch of these pilots and they are honestly some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. I can't figure out how they walk with those giant 'nads......
