Some people add another piece of aluminum to the existing exhaust shield or switch to a tunnel dump exhaust. As far as adding holes to the airbox, there is no real downside that i know of. It will eliminate the chance that your starving for air in the really deep snow but allows a little more...
Original post just asks whether running the sled with an aftermarket Y pipe would be ok without a box. I don"t think anyone is saying that there will be a huge horsepower increase but i have seen a Y pipe and a couple other small mods with no box turn a poor running (rich) m1000 into a decent...
Got mine installed and i am going to try it without a rebalance. I might give Linderman a call on Monday and see if he has any recommendations. Let me know if you find someplace that will balance your clutch. Thanks.
Years ago while working at a car dealership, i seen the mechanics add a little ATF to the engine oil. Reason was to cure the odd sticky lifter etc. Never seen anyone add ATF to the fuel system.
I don,t agree. If sled is running fat after the 09 updates (which mine was) adding a Y pipe and intake may lean things out some and produce a hp increase. In a previous post i compared my brothers and my identical 08 M1000s. Both sleds ran the same before the updates and both ran crappy after...
My sled is a 08 M1000 with the updated ecu. I ran a SLP Y pipe, SLP can, Timbersled intake and Linderman premium fuel head mod with no box. Sled ran terrific and i had to throw more primary clutch weight in it to keep from over revving at high elevation. I also tried a full SLP exhaust and PCV...
Good day. Anyone on here using the THUNDER PRODUCTS 911 kit? http://www.thunderproducts.com/911%20Clutch%20Cover.htm I am in the middle of installing the kit on my 08 M1000 and need to know if the clutch needs to be rebalanced or just install the parts and run it? Really don't want to...
If your sled runs good , leave it alone. Had the update done to a couple of our 08 M1000s just to find that both sleds ran poorly after the updates. I did find that my sleds performance improved after installing a Y pipe, intake and Linderman head mod. We were not happy with the updates.
I use the Dalton adjustables on my M1000 and they are super easy to adjust, just change the set screws. No need to remove clutch weights. Pretty sure the Cutlers are the same as the Daltons.
You will get more of your investment back by installing the stock parts (if you still have them) and selling the aftermarket parts separate. What kind of sled are you selling?
