Yup, new has its benefits, but they all break down. On my 6th Summit now and will probably buy another one. Going to wait until the next generation comes out and then upgrade. Until then the old SP will have suffice. Not that there is anything stock left on it except the seat. Lol
Nice, There are quite a few big bore kits out there, I am on my second Split Second 860 and I love them. Ralph builds the engine and dynos it so he has it dialed in before it leaves the shop. I am sure all the shops are similar though. He will also custom build your clutch for you and tune...
That's for sure Marley, I remember when 136" was big news, lol. I thought I was king of the hill with a brand new 2000 ZX chasis 700 136". And come to think of it, for a stock sled it climbed pretty darn good.
Just put the T Motion, flex track and S-36 kit on my 09 Summit 800 163. What a difference, love it. Was debating getting a new sled but my Split Second 860 only has about 400km on it, with a dialed in clutch, so instead of "maybe getting $7000 for the 09 and having to put up another $8000 for...
Same happened to mine. Just a hint while you are poking around there, take out your Y pipe bolts that fasten your Y pipe to your head, and locktite them. They all work themselves out from the factory and fall down into the bottom of the engine bay. Sucks when it happens 20 km back in the hills
I have owned both, buy the Rev. The 08 will drive you nuts with problems. Rev is a good price and is a good sled. Tweak it the way you want it and ride heck out of it.
Try Split Second Performance. It is not in Red Deer but in Valleyview. Ralph (780-524-4330), he builds big bores, and also puts them on the dyno and performance tunes it for optimum hp and torque. He will also dial in your clutch, has a lake behind his house where he will try out your sled...
I did the exact same track change on my 2008, gears are fine. Go with DJ's mountain kit. Go to his website and fill out the form. With this track and that clutch kit you will see a huge difference, i was pulling with the 163's all day. If you haven't worked on clutches bfore just google it...
I can't remember what the exact cost was but I think with all the tuning it was about $3800-$4000. The only way to properly tune a pipe is to put it on a dyno so you can see the differences, every motor is different. Ralph's number is 780-524-4330 and when he is not too busy he will talk about...
I have seen many different posts on here about horse power, so I wanted to relate my dyno story. Put my 2008 Summit X 800R on the Dyno at Split Second Performance after about 1200 kms. At 2200 ft elevation it dyno'd 139hp. We added a Speedwerx Y pipe and a exhaust pipe and can. It then pulled...
I have an 08 with 3300 miles (not km) on it and I just pulled the engine apart and it wasn't too bad. Might have got another 500 miles out of the rings. Rebuilt it anyway. I have the vent kit, boss seat, piped and remapped. I also changed out the rear shock to a fox, but that was my...
Hey guys, so I am thinking of putting a 163 on my 154 08 summit as well. If I put a challenger 163" 2.5 , 2.86 on, then I shouldn't have to change drivers, correct? Is there a big difference from a Challenger 2.5 or to just use a stock 163 track from Ski-doo? I know the 08 Challenger lite...
I had my ecm sent out and re-programmed last year and when it came back it doesn't seem to get the revs when I'm pulling hills. I have installed a DJ clutch kit but left stock ramps. 17.2 gram wieghts that came with kit. I have to run on clicker 5 to get 8000rpm at 6000ft. I have heard other...
Have stayed there 6 times in the last six years, great place. Great food and they pack a lunch for you in the morning. (I guess you pack your own, but it's all laid out for you) A few of the cabns have TV, you just have to request it when you book. You won't go wrong staying there.
