The biggest gougers of all are already on it, our government. That's the pathetic part. Government should just butt out and let free enterprise take over. But they can't have that now... Seems lots of canadians are brainwashed for socialism

Tough to get a room in Hinton, got lucky with a cancellation at the Highway Inn. Environmental testing vehicle parked on my left, restoration vehicle on my right. This town is bustling.

All I can say as I am still in jasper is this area has been devastated by fire and other damages related to not having power or any people for many weeks. The forests are completely wiped out Southwest and southeast of town for miles. No sightseeing at all there anymore there are many hiking paths you can see and the trees are only what's left of overturned stumps or millions of logs laying down to the northeast. The devastation would blow most peoples minds. Many tourists are arriving and leaving as there is nothing to do or see here. (Hearing that from a hotel manager in Jasper), I know north of jasper is ok, however has limited use. The restaurants are slowly starting to open one by one, mostly full of workers, same with hotels. I'm not sure what winter will bring here. It also appears that much of the wildlife has possibly been killed by the fires, All I typically see here is Elk, and a few bears. The town has been filling up with locals and a lot of workers. Rental motorhomes line the streets with tourists, most not having a clue of the fires that hit this place. Many restaurants, businesses are still closed and dealing with extensive losses. Smoke damages on stock and kitchens with extensive food mal-odours due to decaying food. Most need extensive cleaning with disposal of all the refrigeration units. This does not even address the buildings that are now rubble piles that contain many hazardous substances, naming a few would be asbestos and lead. Im currently on my second batch of destroyed building removals and at this pace Id be here for two years, which I sure dont want to be. I am very happy to be assisting the community of Jasper and the best part is when someone comes up to you and says thankyou for everything that you have done for us, this honestly makes this worth it.
