Figured I would start a thread for us farmers to talk. This will be a thread to share ideas, ask questions we may have, share the years progress, and of course, whine about the weather. :d
We just hit 4900 acres seeded. Only 600 more to go!

So is 5000 acres an average amount for a farmer these days. Use to help my farther inlaw few years ago but that was only around 3500.

Ya I would say its fairly average. All depends on the area too though. I know some guys who have 12000 acres in our area here. Actually its one of my sledding buddies.

We got irrigation. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if it didn't rain from now until september. Only bad part would be fire bans

hardly have anything in at all in this end of the province(south eastern sask). there are a few big farming ops around here that have 25000 acres and only about 640 of them in so far. not good with crop insurance deadline coming up. we've had more water than we have ever had this year and to top it all off in the past 2 weeks we have gotten about 5 inches of rain. so just imagine how much water and how wet the fields are.
