Man this thread really went down hill this past week, lol. Is everything tracked out yet? Doesnt look like much fresh snow coming until later in the week.

Two of us showed up at Allen this morning with $50 in hand ready to pay even though we knew they weren't grooming. No one was there to take the money and hand out passes, kind of disappointing to be honest. That trail is going to need some serious TLC once conditions warrant and I think continuing to collect fees in the mean time is justified, considering it's these runs of guys contributing to the ice and degradation of the trail to the cabin. It won't be us enjoying the resumed grooming schedule, but the same guys riding and paying throughout the season let us enjoy it the days we do come out to play.
Allen still has traces of the 30-50cm powder from the weekend if you look for it, heavily tracked though. We're thinking Clemina tomorrow!

Clemina has lots of tracks, best bet IMO would be behind cabin past bauers second chance type deal. Head for the bush, seen lots of slides there on Sunday.
Well said old boy, people forget how fortunate we are to have access to these amazing areas that other countries have shut down sledding access to the Mountians areas.

Wow, left for a day and look what happened. That was quite the read.......thank you to those who supported us.
Just a few things.
VARDA is for the sledders and the benefit of the sledding industry in Valemount. This winter industry supports many families in our community. We are not a profit making operation on an annual basis and without the large amount of support from the community and surrounding businesses, things would be much different. EVERYTHING we do is in the best interest of the valued guests coming to Valemount.
We groomed through those horrible conditions to try to provide the best trail possible with what we were given. No matter what the after thoughts are, our efforts improved your experience, period. I understand this may not have met everyones expectations and for that we appologize. We tried to do our best for as long as we could with the conditions and eventually mother nature won and it seems our reputation may have taken a hit for our good intentions. Yes this season started off rough, huge snowfalls, -30 temps, weeks of rain and melting and now a drought, this has all made it quite interesting. This effects everything from firewood to soggy parking lots.
Our Website, Facebook Page, this forum and the updates posted in your hotel, are constantly updated with our actions. If you are paying a trail fee, our group deems it acceptable based on expenses, trail condition and overall perception. Its a shame we have to take perception into our financials, not just cash in, cash out on an annual average. Yes some days are busy and make the club some money, but this is not the annual norm. VARDA is operated by a volunteer board elected by its members, you really do have a say.
I do not know how to continue to respond to topics like this on an annual basis anytime the conditions we are dealt with are difficult to manage and not providing the perceived "ideal" result. We are always open to all constructive criticism but this is not really the best method of communicating your frustrations. Attend a meeting, request a meeting, write a letter (not hate mail and include your contact info), PHONE ME or ask to talk to the club president or Executive.
VARDA is here to help, and ALWAYS works in the best interest of the riders.

if anybody complaines about the 25.00 trail fee,should ride a area that does not get groomed in the season and see the difference,i feel varda does a excellent job with the snow conditions and weather they have to work with for the whole season.my first trip to valemount was 1989 and they were rough trails,clemina tired a person out just getting up top.if people complain about the cost should volunteer there time and see how much time is volunteered in a year for people to enjoy the backcountry and the expense put into everything they do,from cabins,groomers,equipment repair costs,fuel,cabins ,trail maintence,parking lots,etc. all of this costs money and only income comes from access fee(25.00) instead of complaining volunteer your time and you would understand more. i wish i could help out more than i do and some day may be able to, until then i feel the cost is understandable. think of it as a access fee not a grooming fee.

Blue bird skies and freezing temperatures over the next few days. The cooler weather is a good sign and now we just need some more precipitation down low to help with the rebuilding of our access trails. We are able to still maintain Clemina even with the extremely thin lower trail although that is the only area being groomed at this time. We are hoping to receive the forecasted precipitation later this week in hopes of being able to get back on schedule for the weekend although it strictly relates to the local weather.
The riding near the typical paths is quite used up although a few unique turns can put you into some beautiful cold snow. There has been some great pictures and videos posted from the weekend and its only Monday....it's out there.

Would deffinetly recommend. Should always use them on any trail. Keeps suspension lubricated

Two of us rode keyhole today. Snow was pretty good. Way better than we found at allen yesterday and waayyy less tracks! Didnt take a whole lot if pictures.
This one my sled did a ghost rider.to the bottom and this is how i found it lol. Luckily no damage.
