Was in Germany last month and travelled the autobahn a fair bit. I am all for high speeds as shown in the picture I took while my friend drove. The only concern I would have is whether or not the car driven at these speeds can handle it. The majority of the cars on the autobahn are built to handle compared to taking a Dodge Neon at this level.

Then why can't I use the shoulder to pass?!

Most do. Happens to me every day turning off the highway to my place. Pizzes me off to no end! And I don't move over to help them break the law either! They find all kinds of interesting stuff with their tires driving on that gravel shoulder.

As far as increasing the speed limit.....NO. People can't seem to slow down to the 60km limit going through our small town now, endangering our kids trying to get to the lake for a swim. Raising the highway limit would just make this even worse. And don't get me started about the azzhat truckers that won't get off the engine brake going through town. Inconsiderate pr!cks!

Wow! I feel so much better now! :)

I suppose you feel it necessary to always go counterclockwise around traffic circles too when the exit you need is only 20' to your left?

I am assuming you are making a LH turn?

I make a LH turn evry day off the a busy hwy to get onto the gravel road to my place and traffic moves onto the shoulder to go around me...I would rather have traffic continue flowing than having some idiot panic and stop behind me then some guy rear ending all of us.....putting all of us in danger. This is why I will not turn my wheels (to the left) until I am actually making the turn....don't want to be pushed into oncoming traffic.
Not sure why you would want to stop the flow of traffic??.....that in my mind is worse.

I make a lh turn off the trans Canada every day, also take my life in other azzhats hands every day turning

Pretty bad when ur watching the vehicles coming behind u more than the ones coming at u

I have been missed so close my azz is still puckered, many times, I keep my wheels straight, and pin it ahead if they get close, then have to do a illegal u turn a few miles away to come back to turn off again

The few miles gives me a way to bird the fawk tard that just about ran into me

So they don't spray gravel all over the side of my friggin' car! That and it's about a 20ft drop into the right hand ditch where I'm turning off. I've already watched one vehicle go over that bank trying to pass me illegally on the right. Sucks to be him....made me laugh though.

Not sure about BC rules but in AB I think (I think.....) it is lawful to pass on the right when a vehicle is making a left hand turn providing it is safe to do so...ie wider shoulders, etc.

I've had the RCMP zoom by me on the shoulder as I was making LH turn.

Her ya go....I thought it was legal.......at least in sunny Alberta....

Overtaking and passing on the right
22(1) A person driving a vehicle may drive the vehicle so as to
overtake and pass on the right of another vehicle
(a) when the vehicle being overtaken is making a left turn or
the person driving the overtaken vehicle has signalled that
person’s intention to make a left turn, or
(b) in the case of a one-way highway, where the roadway
(i) is of sufficient width for 2 or more lines of moving
vehicles, and
(ii) is free from obstructions.

But they are some of the best looked after highways in the world. I can't imagine doing 160 down deerfoot lol.

Sent from my iPhone while wishing the snow was gone so I can go dirt biking.
Germans pay much more in taxes which allows their government to spend much more money on enforcement and road maintenance. This means that Germans must follow the rules of the road. When everyone follows the rules of the road there are a lot less collisions and traffic flows much better so everyone can drive faster, more safely

so..........your assuming its wrong. You MAY be right that it is illegal but perhaps your friend passed unsafely in the cops perspective.

............google is your friend, look it up. I did and I proved to you what it is in Alberta
