I quit posting in the welcome topic because, well, frankly it started to feel so 1999. Not to mention the hate email I was getting from another member on the forum.

this should probably go in the pet peeves thread but my search isnt working so i will put it here........

guys and gals, i'm not trying to start a fight here, but is there really any need to go into the "introduce yourself" section and welcome 3 pages of people with the same generic message over and over again, nothing makes one feel more welcome than looking and seeing the same person who welcomed you welcomed 50 other people in the last 10 minutes......

i'm all for welcomeing peeps and i even every once in a while throw out a "hey welcome to the site, good people here" but its never the same and i do it once in a while.......chit the other day some of you were even welcoming people who had joined in 2009......little late, i think they know they were welcome here...but you didnt notice that because you were to busy quickly pointing and clicking your way through the section with your generic welcome speach clogging up the "new posts" search for 2 solid pages pushing back the usefull info some people are trying to share with these new members (and i am not claiming in anyway any of my posts are usefull)........

just had to vent a little......i'm sure you guys are super nice people who mean well but man i hate logging on to see page after page in the new posts search clogged with "insert 1 of many generic member welcome messages here"

have a super day

You know I just now thought about this.

Im all for welcoming new members to the site, although I have laid off pretty much completely due to the fact other people probably DONT like seeing that I welcomed 6 new members.
So here is my solution and reasoning:

If I was running the site I would find a way to set it up so none of the introduce yourself posts show up on the "new posts" page. Then I would also modify the way the top posters is figured. I would make it so nothing posted in the Introduce yourself section counts towards top posters.

Why? you may ask. I agree with pilo its a pain to look through all the Introduce yourself posts in the "new posts" page, my solution would fix that. As far as modifying the way top posters are counted that would eleminate people just going in there welcoming members that joined 3 years ago to add to their post count. I say if people really honestly mean welcome to the site they would make it a point to go in and welcome each new member WITHOUT those posts counting towards ANYTHING. Im all for welcoming people, but lets make it so it means more to the new members besides somebody just wanting to add to their post count.

Thanks for your time. Zeebs:beer:
