So sell yours, wait until the snow flies then rent one of each and then buy. No biggie.

In april i rode with 2 guys on m8. one was stock and one was turbo. I did not like how either of them handled but sure loved the turbo power. To tell the truth i perfer my 04 rev over my old ladies 08xp. The xp is almost to nimble for me as im a little bigger and could probably boondock an apex.

And I've ridden both an M and an xp I far prefer the m it's just a lot more nimble I like the feel better. I find the xp to bulky. But I've just about always been a cat guy so....

Rode a Zx for years decided last year to buy new sled originally was leaning towards a polaris 800, just couldn't sink that low in life thou, was lucky that a couple of guys had bought new sleds an m1000 and a 163 xp tried them both and found the xp a little more comfortable for myself ended up buying a 154 Xp and really like it. It did take a few rides to get used to it. It all comes down to what your comfortable with. Will you like an Xp only you will know, I've rode all 3 brands and each has there good and bad and everybody has their own opinions. Rent one or borrow one for a weekend that's the only way you'll know

apart of me thinks i should maybe keep and try an XP to make sure it's what i want. Then when snow flies what kinda prices will the sleds be ,this 09 i have lined up is in awesome shape, well taken care of,with low mileage and is asking $9000...sux to make a deciesion like this without snow.

I did ride a guys for like 5 min in the mountains and said.."wow i want one",so maybe that's what i should go on

Man this is just such a preference thing. People that ride cats that hop on doo's hate them and vise versa. Any time I went from my rev to my buddies m8 it was a tough transition. Once I got some time on it I started to not mind it so much and same with him when he rode my rev. I think for me to saddle up on a cat they would have to change the plain of how the bars turn. I find when you turn the bars turn down and into the rider. Being the revs/xps take a little more body english to throw around I find the m8 to be a little on the tippy side. I also find the ride quality to be a little sub par compared to the revs or xps, however I have not rode an hcr which I heard rides fairly well. One big plus to me but might not be to everyone is Ski-doo's 16 wide track. I find the 16 wide hangs on a little better in a climb and is a difference maker when comparing marks on a hill. I guess on the other hand the 16 wide is suspect for making the doos a little harder to throw around. I truly believe both sleds are really good and I think it truly comes down to preference. Buy what your comfortable on.

Just because you can tip over a XP in a sidehill does not make it user freindly.
Anyone with some strength can pull that sled over.... but it's still too hard period.
Last year I have seen it too often that the M8 on steep and deep will power up the hill then 4 or 5 XPs will try to track poach his line and will still not go as far.
The problem with the XP is it takes way to much mods and work to make them run properly. My .02
