I think it will go a long way to understanding exactly what is happening, we looked at the few in our group and they seem to have a lot of clearance like the second one you posted, I'll be sure to pass this on to the fellas and see about a possible home remedy. thinking the heat gun thing on the oil tank and pressing it away with the back of a spoon like someone mentioned....I would imagine it will be new oil tanks for all affected units.

Although I'm sure doo is aware of this, sending them those pics the way you have them laid out may be an idea to let them know what you have observed and maybe re-confirm their findings (if they have any yet). Couldn't hurt anything.
Thanks again for the legwork Columbo;)!!

Nice job. Huge difference on the clearance, nice to be able to compare sleds. My buddies pull start vin is 426, and his broke.
What about the clearance on the clutch side of the fitting where the end of you screw driver was touching, notice any difference between the two. That one might be harder to compare, maybe a small mech mirror where the screwdriver was to look down the other side of the fitting, that's where I thought the clearance issue was and the theory of hitting the the oil tank with your knee came from.
Now I'll have to look at mine when I have a chance.

I'm going to look at mine again to see if my tank is bulged. I do know that the crimped portion of the oetiker clamp is touching the oil tank on my sled.

Great Job in possibly finding what could be the culpert of our problems. NICE measuring device :) I am surprised that the prototypes that were out in the spring and supposily run hard did not have any problems. They could have been built with different tank configurations than the production models? It looks like it could be tough to put a new ooitker clamp on there without removing the oil tank. I wonder if a good strong regular clamp would hold until BRP can pull their butts up to the table and fix it!

The clearance on the left side did not really change all that much, although with very limited access to see and measure that clearance without completely disassembling the sled..... But with my attempt to research.... The left side of the fitting (or clutch side) would not cause any concerns.... I personally think that the issue is clearance on the front to of the fitting to the oil-Tank....

Either a revamped fuel tank, OR revamped oil tank. I would hope brp strongly considers both options......

U can't tell me that there aren't "visitors" on snow and mud covering get their identities as brp reps/tech/whatever.... This site is widely used and it would be silly to not use the information that is collaborated together here for the benefit of making the product better....

And not just Doo... Poo and Kitty and Yammy All could benefit from hearing what the daily user finds out...

It seems as though BRP doesn't care. I have posted on both of their Facebook pages and have seen others post as well about the issue, and there is never any response from them.

they will never respond publicly, and are probably instructed not to do so. it will be a bulletin to dealers before anything else.

That's gotta piss a guy off, sh*tty deal. Wait till the poo guys get a hold of this.

Wow, I'd take a broken drive shaft over this carnage any day!! Hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction![/QUOTE]

Id take a problem that can be remedied relatively easy and still get the sled out of the hills with no more than whats in your tool kit... Versus leaving it there to get pulled out every time and or heli ride it....

YA sure if its not caught there MAY be a little smoke, BUT the common sensed rider should always check over His/Her sled after every smack... Dont take much to open the panels and have a look...

This was taken from another Forum.... Sounds like another possible scenario, but still cant be sure...

"Great pics. More good discussion.

I too, think that there is something going on with the fuel tank but have a different take on it than you. The mounting bar for the tank that is part of the tank at the rear of the tunnel may have a large tolerance where it is mounted to the tank. When the tank is mounted to the tunnel, if this bar is too far to the rear of the tank, it will put the tank too close to the oil tank and the situation with the clamp will be a factor. With the previous oil tank and fuel pump, this tolerance probably was there but didn't make any difference.

This oil tank is mounted to the chaincase through two molded loops on the tank plus a clamp bracket under the tank. In order for the oil tank to be moved, the chaincase would have to be moved which is not likely. The problem is in the fuel tank mounting. A remolded oil tank could be the fix but it's not too easy to change since there's a lot of stuff mounted to it.

I have 2 sleds with the clamp touching the oil tank, a Summit and a Renegade, so I'm thinking this problem may not only be present on Summits, but on all 2013 etechs."

This member (on another forum) has more than one sled model and both have the issue..

I've now recorded over 130 fuel nozzle incidents being reported (gathered from multiple forum sites).... And the list will increase as all 2013 sleds with etecs will have this issue to one degree or another.....

I SUGGEST ALL WHO HAVE HAD ISSUES OR HAVE EVIDENCE OF POSSIBLE ISSUES WRITE TO BRP AND SEND ALL PICS AND INFORMATION TO THEM...... FORUM COMMUNICATION BETWEEEN MEMBERS IS GOOD, BUT UNLESS BRP HAS BEEN CONTACTED WITH CONCERNS THEY WONT BE TOO CONCERNED....

AS A WISE MAN ONCE TOLD ME, THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE.... SHOUT OUT TO BRP PEOPLE .!!!!!!! LETS GET SLEDS FIXED!

Guys? I posted a few days ago that BRP is aware of this problem and will be announcing a fix shortly. This was conveyed to our dealership by a BRP rep. Only a couple more sleeps ....
