When there bald with no cords stickin out, i call'em indian racing slicks.

Buddy's probly pissed, but if u got the money to do ur sled up, i thinks u got a little money for rubbers. Good call.

The cops have gotten pretty sticky on tires this year in B.C. You have to have the snow flake symbol (real snow tires) on or get towed and ticketed. They will let you away with the S & M symbol if the tires are decent. (not the Snow and mud .com sticker).

without a ticket the guy most likely wasn't going to replace tires. makes you wonder about some peoples thought process, $60 thou+ in equipment on through away tires.

Not a doubt in my mind, you did the right thing. When those lifted trucks meet an oncoming vehicle, for some reason the bumpers usually don't line up:rolleyes: Bumper to windshield is not going to have a good outcome. If the guy has money to lift his truck and own a pricy sled he's just plain stupid and inconsiderate for driving on skins like that. He should be grateful, you may have saved his life too.

I am surprised that the RCMP did anything. I am a licensed mechanic and have several times over the years called to inform them of an unsafe vehicle (absolutely no brakes for example) and each time told they have no authority to take a vehicle off the road for safety reasons. Said only DOT could make that determination. The reason is that the officers don't have the "CERTIFICATION" to make that judgement. Seems stupid I know but it wouldn't fly in court apparently. Nice to see things have changed.

Whoo - wait a minute here. It was my understanding that "snowflake" tires OR carrying tire chains were only needed in the passes where road signs indicate it.

There was a few big threads about this in the past few months.

well he was right brakes were scarey .. put it up on the hoist right front brake drum had nothing left cept the part bolted on to the hub and the lip of brake drum hanging on the spindle .. brought him into shop to show him made a couple of calls to auto wreckers to find a couple of drums no luck car never left the sparking lot

It seems like for safety reasons he did need new or newer tires but when does calling the police stop or do we call the police for every infraction we see on the road that may be unsafe and if so they would be swamped with calls and not able to take the real trouble makers off the streets.

And the RCMP is dealing with the real problems now? I think not IMHO

yes but if you dont report safety infractions like this, some one, or many people could hv died as by the sounds of it the tires were very scetchy,.

think about it, put yourself in this guys position, you say awe fug it he'll crash his problem not mine, then you get a call your wife and kids are in critical condition as they were in an accident whenthey broadsided a pickup sliding out of control, may not make it out of the hospital, driver of truck is no injuries. then you see the accident and theres the truck you didn't report.
