Winter specific truck tires

I have these on my half ton. They were excellent for the first 3winters but are now losing their effectiveness. I noticed when I swapped over to them this fall that the rubber seems to be getting harder as the tread wears down. That’s common apparently with winter tires.
they have a bit of a whine/hum to them on but nothing obnoxious. They’re good in both deep snow and on ice.

Less than half tread left yes, but most truck tires come with 14-16 /32 and not 10-12 /32, seeing as this is about truck tires I posted the safe thread left is 6/32

But yes used to be snow flake tires ( rac symbol) or chains, then they changed it 3 yes ago to snow flakes or m and s with decent tread left

Those are the most aggressive pure snow+ice tire I have seen yet.

I am no sure why there isn't more aggressive tires in this market.

Love all the sipes, they make a huge difference.

I'm running the Hercules avalanche extreme LT on my 1/2 winter beater, with all this snow I have yet to put it into 4×4.

I have two sets of these. One on my one ton that are not studded and on set in the escalade that are studded. They are get in snow and even mud but are average on ice when they are not studded. Excellent on ice studded naturally. I am going to fun these into the summer on my truck as I need some mud tires this summer and will get the next set studded in a year and keep them as dedicated winter tires.

Rocks get in the stud holes and are a PITA to get out.

What are you guys getting for milage out of these tires? Running Duratracs on my 3/4 diesel and found that they wore out faster than I would have expected but have run them year round. Probably need a new set before long and with the stock 20" rim these fawkers are expensive. 275-65-R20 if memory serves me right is the tire size.

Yes, I think I am about 60000k on them, which I suppose isn't terrible, but at $1700 bucks, its tough to swallow. I like the look of the tire, but never found them a great performer.

True. I would have had mine studded if I could have. The only way to do them now is to remove the rocks and do them myself.

Lots of times it has more to do with the stud won't seat properly (or stay in) due to the wearing of the compound around the holes. Not just the fact that they could have rocks in them. I am sure that they could still stud them, but a much greater amount would fall out, which tire shops wouldn't want to deal with people getting annoyed.

Stud pounds the rocks in the hole through the tire and makes it leak.

Having a dedicated winter truck tire is fine but I have also had a good experience with Michelin Latitude tour. More so when it comes to offroad, this tire is fuel efficient and special tread design ensures durability hence a longer service life. They also feature Comfort Control Technology which is installed to reduce vibration and noise in general. Thus, it’s as quiet as an all season truck tire would offer on a highway. You don’t have to worry about stability at high speeds with this tire. It has a reactive contour management design which enables the tire to put through rough road condition changes.

Calling those tires the best off-road tire is pretty feeble. And they don’t even appear to offer a LT version, just passenger series unless there is another version I do not see.

Put a set of these on our gmc 3500 studded and a lot smoother ride than the stock tires, a good test yesterday in snow and ice hauling skidsteer happy so far and only running 50 psi in them.

A tire salesman? I am sure that our demand on winter tires is greater and lasts longer in the great white north than in Phoenix, AZ. How many miles of packed snow, freezing rain, slushy snow, etc., etc., do they get in Phoenix?.

Put a set on 1/2 ton as well . Work great so far . 4000 kms
