I would not recommend a warn. I had to rebuild it every year as the motor would fill with mud and water and stop working. I replaced it with a viper winch from motoalliance.com. A 4k viper with synthetic is about half the price of a warn. They're also much more water tight and don't have the crappy plastic engage/freespool switch.

I also picked up a Viper winch, been using it for lifting the plow without any problems so far!

I have had 2 warn winches previously. the first one worked flawlessly every time & the second one was a constant headache. I now have a 3500 lb Superwinch & so far it is working very well. A buddy of mine has a Viper winch & it has been pretty good as well. In my opinion there are alot of winches out there that are as good or better than Warn for half the price.

I have only used Warn. I have a Warn on both Grizzlies and the Rhino and they haven't failed me yet. I also bought a Viper Elite but haven't mounted it yet.

I had a Warn 2500 fail on my after only about 3 trips. Yestrday, I found that both my Warns were frozen solid. ...granted I haven't tried drying them out as recommended by KBrunlees. He says if you hook your winch line to something solid and use it to reel in your quad at the end of a ride, the heat generated will dry out the internals. Either way, I think I'm gonna tery a viper next time I need a replacement.

I hear good things about the Vipers. I also hear of a lot of Warns being muddy and full of water. I don't know why that is. All my Warns are okay so far and they go through some deep stuff out West. The Vipers seem like a good product. When I get mine mounted on the Rhino I will be able to give a better opinion on them.

All my Warns are either the RT or the XT not the ones that say made for Yamaha by Warn.

I've destroyed too many Warn's to ever buy another one. I bought a Viper 4000lb a few years ago...that's the only winch I'll buy from now on.

warn is the only way to go

 Pardon me....????

Warn winches have plastic gears that are easy to strip teeth off of, or at least they used to.

The Viper and Runva winches have metal teeth and are a great deal less to buy.

I hate warn it has let me down so many times (GARBAGE) viper looks good but after looking at the specs and the size of motor the Runva looks better and free shipping and made in Canada just saying support local and keep the jobs here. It is all metal inside and out, there my 2 cents
