to the op why not look into a four seater SxS? take the family in one vehicle, some makes are only slightly longer in length than a 2 seater, with a lift and better tires will go just about everywhere.

Yes this is another good idea. The Kawi 4 seater is the shortest of them
All i believe and probably the cheapest and the only one that comes with a 3 year warranty.

I find the cat is like a limousine lol and the rzr 4 seater as well.
A few guys have those new kawi's around here and they say they're bulletproof.

Lol what kind if question is that? Can't say i ever heard of anyone in a head-on with one of them.
Pretty sure they don't have airbags.

Seen a low speed, head on lat time out, Lots of damage to both kawi and rzr. Rzzr may have had less total, guys got real lucky! Helmets n seat belts saved some blood loss, 30km head on can get ugly fast.

To the OP... I've never owned a RZR, but I've driven a bunch of them. I ended up buying a Wildcat Trail XT, and have had it for over a year, about 1000 km on the machine, no repairs other then oil changes, and we are not easy on it by any means. Very happy with the machine and the selling dealer (T&T Powersports in Bonnyville).
The 700 as mentioned is an overachiever. It has great out of the box power, and will hang a beating on a RZR 800. The RZR does turn tighter due to it's shorter wheelbase, both machines benefit from power steering (I added a Super ATV unit), and both machines are sprung very soft for aggressive riders, which can be fixed with heavier springs from Bandit UTV suspension without breaking the bank, and parts in general are less expensive to replace on the Cat. I would suggest you ride both and see which one fits you, as they each feel considerably different in both power, handling, and ergonomics. It was mentioned they are small in the cabin, and yes, they do not offer the same interior room as a full size SXS. But I've no issues being cramped, and I'm 6'2" / 230 lbs, my wife is 5'2" / weight not to be discussed for fear of death lol. PM me if you need any info, be glad to help.

The 4 seater sxs are just too big for my liking plus the wife prefers driving too. I did try out both briefly. I liked the power of the cat but did find the cab a little tight. I liked the room in the RZR cab but the power was lacking although it was only the 570 version. Maybe the 900 trail RZR is the way to go?

I know you don't want the Maverick, but you mention that you want your kids to drive as well. My Maverick has two keys. One performance key and the other is like a valet key.
I have never tried the valet key so I don't know how much the power is retarded.

I believe there is a third key available, (for the Commander anyways) aimed at construction sites (orange key governed to 25 mph).

Also has eco choice on the dash.
Works good for bush trails as the throttle response is less

I own an RZR 800xc model and its been good. Its the 50" wide unit but came factory with aluminum offset rims and 26" tires, making it 52" wide.
I also put a 2" lift to help clearance, now clearance is a none issue on such a short machine.
I have been using it on ATV trail's with no issues and only on small occasions i might have to do a multi point turn.
The only big gripe i had with this machine in handling was on uneven twisted terrain. It was unstable and tended to get up on 3 wheels. The removal of the stabilizers front and back cured this completely and now the unit stays planted on all 4 tires. As for higher speed, it didn't effected it at speeds below 60km/hr. But speeds above there is more body roll noticed, but nothing adnormal or uncontrollable. Also the overall ride in comfort and smoothness is greatly improved with no stabilizer.
I have had one issue with the RZR, but only have about 1000km on it. The master cylinder started to leak after the first year, i replaced it and all else has been great.
I find the power to be smooth and milage is IMO out standing. Never have a need to carry extra fuel, even after a solid day of riding, it still has fuel in the tank. I do at times wish it had a little more power especially when traveling FSR at higher speeds. A 900 would had been great but no regret on the 800, it has plenty for trails.
I like the cab room, both wife and i are tall so the extra room the RZR has is nice, plus the cargo space is very nice. We can throw in our camping gear in the box and take off for the weekend no problem, plenty of room for it. That was a big factor when i bought it, many other models really lack cargo room.
The other great thing about these units is, no need to trailer. You can drive them directly into a pickup box. I love that about the 50" wide machines.
If i was to buy one again it would be the same one but in a 900. Like the 900xc. Hope that helps you make you.

One thing I will add about the wildcat to rzr, is yes the grab handles for passengers sucks compared to rzr and even foot room is way less for tall people

I don't remember what the 700 has for grab handles but the wife prefers the handles in the 1000 wildcat vs the rzr.

-more on the trail to swap parts to get u home if something fails (belts, wheels etc...)

Okay I've got 2 years on my wildcat trail 700, gonna compare to 900:

Value: Cat hands down, I think close to $2k cheaper but double check.
Power: 900 wins here, but easy to hop up a cat and you're eating poo for breakfast :)
Suspension: I don't know this one, longer wheelbase on wildcat (a con for turning around on trail)
Comfort: 900 has much more room and nicer seats
Reliability: not sure, but I have more confidence in the Kymco engine, drivetrain and Team clutches over Polaris stuff
Aftermarket: Polaris hands down, but how much stuff do you really need? I found everything I needed at around the same price as 900 parts.
Looks: up to you, I do know it's nice not looking like another Rzr dude.
Stability: man this trail is way more stable than I thought it would be, no sway bars and aftermarket springs
Fit/finish: polaris here, I found the cat was a bit sloppy and you need to spend some time retorting lines and making sure nothing's rubbing.
Ease of maintenance: Both are very well thought out. Poo wins here as there is great zerks and cats don't plus they have brass bushings so wear out quick. Had to replace all mine win aftermarket ones but it was a huge pain (take a careful look at the front of cats)


If money is no object honestly I would go with the poo. Both are good, just being honest here, I love my trail and it's awesome power. Good luck.
