I disagree. Someone has/d to be the first to be made an example of.

I think he's referring to the referee, Henderson.... It is sad the ref is hurt that bad, and possibly finished his career... :(

Yes I was referring to Henderson...no worries!!

After Wideman's text message that helped Bettman decide to uphold the suspension I have no doubt he knew what he was doing all along.

I would think they can subpoena phone records, emails etc but I'm not positive.

It wasn't subpoenaed. Since Wideman and his representatives made the decision to appeal, it then gives the NHL the right to investigate any evidence that they fell could relate to the investigation and or incident. The text message was really stupid and poor taste on his part, it makes the apology seem really redundant. I am really beginning to see that Wideman is not very wise in judgement and thinking before doing, although his play on the ice this year resembles that thought process haha.

It will be interesting to see how things go with the independent arbitrator especially with this new evidence and also being halfway through the suspension now the whole suspension may be over before the whole process is complete.

I read that in the Sun today...not sure how that works since he's already sat out 19 of the 20, at least that's the way I understood it. But his fine was reduced by 50%...meanwhile there's a linesman that may never be able to do his job again and who knows what the long term repercussions of his injuries are going to be. Pretty disappointing decision IMO.

I am actually surprised that it was reduced to 10 games honestly. I do think it warranted more than 10 games but less than 20. But he still was basically suspended for 10 games without pay and 9 with pay, its just kinda ridiculous with how long the whole appeal process took to finally resolve this. I'm sure there will be changes to the appeal process in the near future to help speed things up so that there can be an actual conclusion before the original suspension is up. He basically missed 9 games for no reason now but is what it is, not like he was much of a difference maker anyways.
