Other than Apple. I have had an iPad since they first went on the market. Not many complaints, infact I'm making this post on an iPad but I'm looking to try something different. What's the best alternative out there. Thinking Android?? The good, the bad and the ugly?

Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 all the way. Android platform and very user friendly. Great battery life and not a bad thing to say about it. Inexpensive too!

Anything for Android just get the nexus line. But If you want to have a functional tablet/laptop(ultrabook) Look at a Microsoft Surface Windows 8(not RT). Going to run you about $900 but slickest thing out their right now and usable for work.

I'm going to take a good look at the Nexus but I think the 10 is only wifi. I'm looking for 4g and I like the idea of having the micro SD with the galaxy. The MS surface looks like the real deal. Is it an Android?

No, it's a windows 8 machine and it is slick. I've been running my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for a few years now and love Android. The Galaxy 2 Tab would be even better. I also have a Galaxy S3 phone so I don't see the need for a data plan with my tablet. Android system is not quite as intuitive as the apple system but I think it's a more powerful platform with a lot more customization.

asus makes one too, 10" tablet that has SD card capability. also has a clip on keyboard with a built in battery. the nexus has super high resolution like the ipad 3rd gen but no SD card.

If you have a smartphone you can just turn on wifi hot spot instead of getting a 4g tablet. Saves you a data plan.

I run a playbook paired with my Bold. Have no complaints about the set up, in fact planned a 10 day trip to Italy on them. My son has a Nexus 7, and very happy with it too, but no back facing camera.

Visions has a good sale on now and links to a couple of ratings sites that helped us with our sons purchase.

I got a playbook for Christmas and am finding it really handy!

Being able to tether it thru my phone makes it that much simpler.... Not for everyone, but I really like it.

Asus Transformer Prime is a little power house if i remember right. I personally have the Windows Surface Tablet and love it. its like having a computer everywhere you go, easy to use, fast and no issues so far :) Oh and expandable memory too! But you need a wifi hot spot, one of the usb sticks (it has a usb port) or hot spot with your phone. Its awesome though and i would definitely recommend!

Thanks for the input fellas. I went with the galaxy note 10.1. ill let you know how it works out. so far i notice it dosent auto correct for me the way my ipad does. :( maybe theres an option? only been on this thing for 5 minutes. I like the option of having the built in stylus cause I use these things for work alot. If you have any tips let me know.

Download the keyboard app SwiftKey. Way better than the stock android keyboard

Judging from some posts on this site, spellcheck doesn't work at all for anyone on S&M.
