Looking for a suitcase invertor generator 2000. Choice is between Yamaha and Honda. Both within a few $$ difference. Not interested in any of the offshore brands tried them already.

What would your choice be?? Thanks for the input

I have a 3000 honda inverter i love it

I was going to suggest the 3000i Honda but I think he's looking for a "suitcase" gen. He's old and weak lmfao!! I have a 3200i Onan/cummins which I think is bullet proof but it's almost a two man job to throw in the truck...I'm old and weak too but I always have a hand around to help me. The yamaha 2000 is solid but the Honda runs quiter. A little more $ though.

Honda Portable Silent Generator EU20i: The quietest in its class !!!!!

Delivering 2000 watts of portable power, the EU20i is the ultimate leisure generator for the more demanding user. This tough and compact unit is powerful enough for all kinds of tasks where you don’t have access to the mains whether you’re abroad in the caravan or motor home, working at the end of the garden, entertaining outdoors or even to provide emergency back-up when there’s the inevitable power cut. Honda’s exclusive Inverter technology gives you unsurpassed power stability to run even the latest high tech electronics safely through the twin 230V outlets. And although the EU20i has enough capacity to power a microwave oven or several appliances simultaneously, its unique Eco Throttle means the EU20 is frugal too.

At the flick of a switch this feature only runs the engine as fast as the load demands, enabling the EU20i to run for over ten hours on a single tank of fuel ( @ 1/4 load , with minimal noise and fuel cost and maximum engine life.
Power is passed through a special microprocessor which "smooths" the power output so computers and other sensitive electrical equipment can be run safely on this model. EU20i generator features Eco Throttle, this offers excellent fuel economy by incorporating a load-dependent speed control governor which automatically adjusts engine speed to the optimal level. The low noise design only produces 52db@ 7m, equivalent to the noise level in a typical business office. Parallel cables are available as an extra to allow the EU20i generator to be connected to other portable EU20i's to provide additional power.

But if your going with a 2000 , I'd go Honda, then you can always upgrade to a duel 2000 set up if you need more zing!

Yup what Ok said I have 1 runs everything fine except the air cond but if you replace the capacitor(?) with a more soft start one it will run the AC detail on how to do it RV.net

do they make the same model with 120V? This advert sounds British. What with caravans and working in the garden and all.

you can't go wrong with either the honda or yamaha period. the yamaha 2000 also is able to hook 2 generators together just like the honda. quiet, lightweight, fuel usage, warranty and the best price and service is what would make my choice.

again you will not go wrong with either one, i have the 3000 honda heavy, runs all day at idle, runs everything.

I bought the Yamaha 2400i generator. It is heavier than the 2000 watt generators but not nearly as heavy as the 3000 watt models. If you buy the 2000 watt you most likely will not be able to run your air conditioner without tripping the circuit breaker. With my 2400 I can run the AC and have the microwave going no problem.

When I bought mine Yamaha also had a better warranty, two years instead of one. I'm not sure if that's still the case though. I have never had a problem with my Yamaha in 5 years of service, just gas and go.

Either way Honda or Yamaha are the way to go when talking portable generators for RV use.

I was in the same situation last summer, Yammy or Honda 2000, I liked the Honda, the wife liked the Yamaha. We got the Yamaha. When we vote it appears she has 2 hands to my one. Either way we are very happy with the Yammy, works like a charm, very easy on fuel and nice and light.

we have had the Honda 2000 ie for 2 and half years now and we are still impressed. Won't run the air but we are out side anyway. Runs the Microwave when we forget to defrost stuff oops. My Nash trailer has monitors for everything so kills a battery overnight especially if it is cold. I turn the generator on late at night and let it purr, put it 50 feet away chained to the nearest tree you don't even hear it. they say it will run 11 hours but I have seen it last closer to 12 and half. Love my Honda, now if they only made a two up!(jk you will have to pry my cold dead hands off the Can Am)

Honda all the way Glen best bang for the buck and can be expanded to a TWO unit when or if you need to upgrade.

I also have one of these. I used it when we had trailer RV's and now it is our back-up. About 1/2 the weight of the 3000 Yams and Hondas and WILL run the AC. But does a lovely job of just idling away quietly and running the TVs which is all most people need. I think it holds 4 litres....runs about 20hrs on a tank.

How are you fellas linking the 2 2000 honda's together? My interpretation was that this was an option on american only units, because my canadian version is missing the plug to join the two. Something to do with CSA standards.
