Need that engine in the Wolverine, for those of us who want more of a sport utility.
Yeah, I understand the adrenaline rush guys get looking at the sport sxs's but in my world a sport utility is far far more useful. We love the outdoors, exploring, and having fun with friends. Thats why I love my Commander!

Sxs market seems to be in real evolution stage reminds me of where sleds were 10 years ago when Yamaha stirred things up with big a 4 stroke. I'm a bit disappointed they never spec'd that motor to 140-150hp. Yet I was buying a dune machine that would be my first choice of Polaris, can am, Yamaha, but 112hp is still a joke when you see 70hp banshees and 400hp rails in glamis.

They ( all brands) leave room to grow HP wise.... There is already 155 hp factory warranty turbo option though.

70hp banshees require frequent rebuilds, the fact that this thing doesn't have a HP killing belt drive set-up, the 10,000 rpm 1000cc engine will make this very quick.....it may only have 113hp but the torque numbers will be really good

I know it doesnt matter to us that ride(we'll buy it cause we want it).But in this economy I feel if they want to continue selling product they would start by reduceing price while increasing quality.

Alberta is not the market right now to release this SXS, just like all releases Yamaha has fallen short when there is no money flowing.

Alberta is a pretty tiny market, I am sure they are not worried about a few lost sales.....they sell more product in California alone than all of Canada

i came up with this that was quoted by someone with Yamaha and Yamaha's R and D department....

From the Yamaha staff that was at haydays to ask questions:
Crawling : not designed for that. It's intended as a desert racer/duner. The hillclimb/mudder/crawler groups will have to wait for what's coming next. A recluse clutch will help if you used it in that application but clutch changes will be frequent as it was never intended or designed for that. Shifting without a clutch will cause significant premature wear on the clutch, I asked about something like a PCV with a ignition interrupter/shift assist and he said if it comes out that would be the ticket for clutchless shifts.
This is from one of the guys on their R&D staff, not a salesman or sales rep. They came to haydays with both barrels loaded to promote this thing the guy didn't studder or give me random answers when I asked all sorts of questions about it. I also watched one of the Yamaha sled reps get destroyed off free beer at the Fox party. pretty damn entertaining to watch him stumble around

ok here are the first dyno sheets on a 1000 yamaha and 1000 polaris.... the top sheet shows hp and torque with a pipe system on them and the bottom shows the same as a stock unit both of them.... the pipe makes a big difference on the yamaha... crazy... torque is up to by like 8 ft lbs with a pipe...

no sheets with a can am thou yet....
