I started out riding with a friend before I went to post-secondary school. Back in the olden days we used to control varmints with lead poisoning and I had a lot of fun and was hooked. First teaching job was in the NWT and this 1970 Panther was the first of many over the years.

SCAN0009.jpeg
For many years after that, we bought two sleds a year as we both drove them to work and throughout the community during the winter. My sleds were (as best as I can remember as the list goes back many years and some of the details may be a little off) as follows:
1970 Arctic Cat Panther
1971 Arctic Cat Panther
1973 Arctic Cat Cheeta
1974 Arctic Cat Panther
1975 Arctic Cat
1976 Arctic Cat
1978 Arctic Cat
1979 Arctic Cat
1980 SkiDoo Elan single
1980 Arctic Cat
1981 Arctic Cat
1982 I took a sabbatical leave for a year to do a Master's degree.
1983 SkiDoo Everest
1984 SkiDoo Elan 2 cylinder.
1986 Polaris Indy
2001 I bought my first mountain sled.........a 1996 Arctic Cat Powder Special.
2003 a Polaris Trail Sport 2 up
2005 Polaris Vertical Escape 159" (blew the motor the first and only year)
2006 Skidoo Summit 144
2008 SkiDoo XP
2010 SkiDoo X
2012 SkiDoo X
2013 SkiDoo XM
2014 Skidoo XM
2015 SkiDoo X T3 174 (that's was the yellow banana all wrapped up that is upside down in the picture)
2017 SkiDoo X G4 165
2018 SkiDoo X G4 165
2019 SkiDoo X G4 165
2020 SkiDoo Expert G4 165

It has been a great sport for my wife and I and our children. Back in the early 80's and up to 2000 when hockey was big in our family (4 boys playing and I coached for 20 years) I didn't have time for the sledding sport. We moved to the mountains in 2001 (spent 5 years building a house with a little sledding) and I said "I have an itch to satisfy!" and have had another great run from about 2004 until now. Met a ton of people and made a lot of friends. Even had a trail named after me in the Rolling Hills of Fernie. Also had the privilege of great support from "snopro", Mr. R's, and Bow Ridge Sports over the years and I have been blessed and I will tell you that I am not ready for the rocking chair quite yet!

Lol.........In 2013 and 2017 we bought 2; one for me and one for Bev in each of those years. The 2013 demo ride was the funniest! There was a demo sled for every two people. Bev enjoyed Eagles so much on the easy to carve 2013 that she basically rode it all day. I hardly had a turn!! The T-motion and the flex track sucked her right in and she basically, said "We better buy two because if you only buy one, I'll be riding it!!"

As I said above, it has been a great sport for us and we have been blessed to have met and ridden with so many great people over the years. Thanks again, buddy!

Was fortunate to have a father who loved sledding. Started at a young age and was the best riding partner a guy could ever wish for. Still call him after every ride and fill him in on the days events.

I was almost born on sleds, my dad raced for Rupp and moto ski back in the 70's. Mom was pregnant with me and went into labor at a race.
Spent many years eating beans outta the can smelling 2 stroke with the old man.
First sled was a 1976 skidoo Everest 340, then an 81 citation 4500, 91 formula MX, 96 mxz, 98 summit 670x, 98 formula 500, 2004 king cat 900, 2007 m7, 2013 summit 800, 2018 summit 850.
