hey guys! my family is planning a trip to kicking horse ski hill and I of course will b bringing my sled!
I usually ride crows nest / fernie and cant wait to explore some new territory.
my father inlaw will b riding with me, we both are intermediate riders, have mountain sleds, avy gear and GPS.
we like to ride trees and bowls.
I was wondering if someone could send me in the right direction for some good rides.
directions, maps, gps tracks ect.

thanx so much!!

I'll e following this as I'm in the same boat as you. We are staying at Kicking Horse as well and we plan on sledding, but are unfamiliar with the area.

Quartz creek, Silent pass come to mind. probably better to stay out of the gorman area. sled shops should have a golden sledding area map.

Also want to explore that region, any inexpensive hotels in that area to stop for overnight?
We also want to visit Spray lake on our way back to Calgary.

Check out the golden tourism website. They have a section dedicated to sledding showing all riding areas as well as directions to them. Great videos as well.

Quartz is Probly one of the easiest areas to get into around golden. Parking is 36km west of golden right off the highway. Trail ride in is 11km. There's a cabin right at the end of the trail ride in. You can easily find an open meadow to the left of the cabin and also quite a few ways up to alpine. Also lots more to the right of the cabin. Would for sure recommend this area over others in and around golden.

these comments are spot on. GSR is a good place for no BS advise.

quartz is a great place to start. its bigger than most people think. something for everyone, except mega hill climbs. family friendly and a nice cabin.

gorman is still a bit rocky and needs good vis or its sporty.

google earth is a good tool for all sledders ...
