2008 summit 800 with about 4500 kms and my primary has quite a wobble at low rpm. The compression has held even at about 110 per side but it does not like going in to reverse and is starting to act weird. I'm told it needs a new short block. So, is the somewhere other than a dealer I should be looking? What about the crank exchanges I see advertised? Thoughts? Anyone doing complete rebuilds out of their garage with some customers to vouch for them?

The wobble could also be from worn clutch bushings in the spring cup and fix halve. Until you have the crank run out checked its hard to say if it needs a new short block.

Not going into reverse could be a low idle. In the end, yeah its quite possible it could use a fresh short block, I don't know where is best where you are located to get one.

Curious what is stock compression on the 08/09.

With my gauge on my 08 with 1300 miles on the engine I get 130 lbs, pretty much been the same since that motor was redone.

lots of variables, not every guage reads the same, hot or cold readings, etc best to use the same guage all the time so you have something to compare, or a variable between both cylinders.

Especially when you're running a Doo.

Thought I'd try out the "troll" thing. Fun, actually. Now I know why you girls are always diving into the Pro threads. ;)
