I have always stayed down at the Luxor, Mandalay Bay or Excalibur area but after this last trip a couple months ago I will probably stay somewhere more central. I seem to spend most of my time on freemont street everytime I go so being more central would be nice. Might even try the golden nugget on my next trip. Love Vegas, always seem to have the craziest time of my life everytime Im there

Agree with most everyone on here when they say try and centre yourself on the strip. I find that TI (Treasure Island) could be your best mesh between quality and $$$. MGM Grand is nice but it isn't in the heart of the strip. Stay away from Excalibur!!! But where we have been staying recently is the Flamingo. It's an older hotel, but if you ask for an upgraded room they aren't that bad. It is consistently one of the most economical, center of the strip, and have a pretty good pool and atmosphere. I was gonna say that it was close to the blue collar casino O'Sheas which was good for cheap drinks and beer pong (LOL) but unfortunately it is being torn down...Just my 2 cents.

WTF........... They torn down O'Sheas???? That was the best place to get an "upside down shooter from a midget"!!!! The place was always packed.

I was in Vegas last month, went out to the track with intentions of trying it out but they weren't running that week, track was leased out to Scion. There are 3 different groups who use Vegas, Petty has a permanent garage, Mario Andretti comes in a few times a year and I cant remember the other one.

When in Vegas, if you like motor sports at all, plan to spend some time at and around the speedway, there are a tonne of things to do there.

I did the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Vegas last year. It was my third time. Would love to do the Dale Jarrett experience next as he was my favourite driver and you can pass and draft in his schools although the instructor is in the car with you unlike Petty's school. They are a great experience and I highly recommend it.

What would the price tag on something like this be? I have always wanted to give that a try

Last time i was there, the just ride along thingy, was i think $120.
The one time we were there, we hung out in the stands with some guy from BC. He had a pail of beers, and a bag of umm, goodies, and he was just watching the cars go round and round. Was actually funny as hell.

You can usually do a ride along with a pro for around $100. It lasts 3 laps but is at qualifying type speeds. The rookie experience is in the $400's if I remember. I did the Kings experience for $800. They gave me another 12 laps for $199 because I was a repeat customer. Got to 147mph last time which will get your attention. Lol.The wall starts coming into focus much more the higher the speed. HaHa.

Yup I did the King experience or whatever only got to 142mph though. It's not cheap but it's worth it. Tough to tell yourself that even though you are pulling serious G forces the car still has a ton of traction and you can go faster.

Garth Brooks tickets are worth it too, much less than his Calgary concert and much easier to get too.

We stayed at a time share located on the back side of the Flamingo. It was ok but I wouldn't sit through the time share seminar again. Very high pressure sales and after almost 4 hours we left and told them to shuv the $75 gift card..LOL

There's lots to pick and choose. You can get some good deals if you do alittle work first. Look at a couple places around the area you want to stay and contact them for deals. Let the casinos compete for your business. We were only there for 5 nites two yrs ago and haven't been back but we want to. We did the Hoover Dam trip and that was fun. Went down to Freemont for the midnite show and zip line. We also checked out the Pawn Stars shop along with the outlet malls. Took in one show at the MGM, David Copperfield was awsome. I'm not a fan of the other guy.

I was down there at the beginning of the month for a buddies stag party and we stayed at treasure island. I would highly recommend that place to anybody and would stay there again. the pool scene really helps my decision to go back there!!

We go quite a bit and i would really pick anyplace in the MIDDLE of the strip..........Stayed at the MGM and it was a mistake.......Took 2 hours to walk thru the casino every night to find our rooms .. lol.Don`t let them tell you about the tram either as it is further to the back of the hotels to catch it than it is to walk uptown.
Cabo Wabo is a nice spot to have a beer and watch the fountains @ the Balagio...Freemont street is a must as well.......
