So by your reasoning buddy. If Alberta ship product across BC to it's markets then BC should get a share of the profits then every truck, train or plane that hauls fruit, fish, lumber from BC through Alberta to Eastern Canada should fork over some cash to Alberta. Is that what your saying?
I think you still have an apple in one hand and an orange in the other. If a load of cherries or lumber crashes what is the cost of environmental remediation? A lot less than a dilbit spill. What I am saying is there is a massive disparity in risk. One large spill into a waterway will easily eclipse any economic benefit that BC will have received from Northern Gateway.

I have a little trouble seeing how spilling fruit, fish, or lumber all over the highway can be compared with a pipeline rupture...but it was me that brought up apples to oranges so....

And I still don't see why BC should get any share in the profits of product going across the province. If one of those 209 conditions is that the pipeline owner pays for any and all clean up costs (which I'm sure it is) why would BC have any share in clean up cost? Spilling fruit, fish or lumber, what?

If Enbridge has a spill they may well pay to clean it up, at least until they run out of money or decide they've spent enough and appeal to the government. But the higher risk is the tanker traffic in the Douglas Channel. Do you really think a Chinese shipping company is going to pay for a multi-billion dollar cleanup? And if they don't how do you even sue them and collect?

The Chinese have already proven they answer to no one.
