First mountain trip was in 2007 on a 2002 summit 151. Rode that sled until 2013. Absolutely loved it right from the start

You have some great old pics !!! And color , Any I have seen from the late 60’s are black and white
It makes me laugh to think of jumping on one of those and entering a Race !!!
But at the time they were the Hot new Iron !

Those Olympic 320's were a great sled. We had a 69 Nordic and it was a hard pack only machine.

Brand spanking new 1971 Motoski.
Thought I would post on behalf of my son. He started riding in the mountains in 1998 at 3 years old on his Z120 out at Golden. I’d tie a rope to his front ski about 25 feet long then to my bumper. By riding in front and just leaving a little slack in the rope he could steer back and forth but I could always accelerate slightly and straighten him out or give a little help on a hill if needed (all real gentle stuff). Was a great start as he turned into a real good little rider quickly. Also the Z120 is the best sled I ever bought as he’s 21 years old now and still riding it! Yes, he’s modded it out over the years and learned a lot in the process. Great memories!

Started taking my son up at about 12. He’s 27 now and as long as Dad has the sleds and gear he willing to ride.
He started on a 99 700 RMK 151” graduates to a 05 800 Summit 151” and now runs a 14 800 Summit 163”
It’s awesome to have time with the boy in the mountains.

It took a lot of control for me to not make a smart comment about riding a 120 as an adult. Glad you clarified that.

my dad was manager of Wapta Lodge (now known as Great Divide Lodge) outside of Field.... on top of the hill. I wish I had pictures but my first ride on a sled was in 1969 in the parks to boot (it was permitted back then) and I was 3. Been sledding on/off since then but got my independence to ride (without my parents) in Golden in 1980. We left right from our house in town.

I don't think 68's came with snow flap, my Motoski didn't.

You could be right. I skidoont so it was more sarcasm than a useful observation. Maybe the Poster in 68 said Ride Skidoo following us is the winter equivalent of tailgating manure spreader.
