What's your opinion on this sale?

I put a wanted ad out for a 700cc bottom end for arctic cat lay downs, and i got a reply on hardcoresledder, here's the link WTB: Arctic Cat 700cc Bottom End - HCS Snowmobile Forums the person with the bottom end i want is pro1000, it is a fully rebuilt crank with new bearings and straightened, it was rebuilt by associated crankshaft in Winnipeg. He wanted $650, so i got my $650 put together, asked him for his paypal address so i can send the cash, and he says he doesn't have paypal, that he wants a certified check, or post office money order. Alarm bells go off in my head first of all, first thing i think is this guy's trying to take me around back. I then ask him if he has a friend that has a paypal address that i can send the cash to, and he replies with, so I guess this will not work. Not worth my trouble then, sorry.


What do you guys think? $650 for a rebuilt crank and full bottom end is great, it's right in my price range, and he's in Manitoba. Almost local.

I would recomend passing on the deal unless you can by chance meet the guy in person to make the sale.

Yeah, just as i thought, sucks. I really need the new bottom end.

as long as your case halves are ok i would go thhis route, recreation supply in saskatoon will send you a new crank with all bearings for not a lot more than the price of this bottom end. I have dealt with them many times and they are stand up guys.

If it was me selling I'd only accept cash in hand. No cheques, PayPal or anything else. Just protecting myself from all the scammers out there these days. Guy could be very legit - just because he doesn't use PayPal doesn't necessarily mean its a scam.
