hahahhahah you are so right.......what we suffer from now is the best!!!!!! respect what a awesome thing to have, to show,to do to others, sure makes our lives better. I remember lying one time and one time only. Alot less pain when you man up compared to trying to lie about it.
That was the longest wait ever! My parents spanked me! But now I suffer from a thing called respect for others!

i sure got some. all my mom had to say was "wait till your dad got home" that alone put the fear of god into me.. i was more than glad when my mom spanked me compared to my dad.
I took the wooden spoon away from my mom at around 7, paid for it big time when the old man got home. Looking back, should have taken it!

Was caught and stuck in typing class, then got sent to the principles office for the hundredth time for the "STRAP" ....turns out he was away so this tiny really good looking teacher was not going to wait, she was going to administer the punishment her self, marched me into the supply room and started giving me the "STRAP", but she couldn't bring her self to hit hard, so I kind of laughed.....then the door opened and the gym teacher who was an wrestler took one look (apparently he was watching the whole time) and in what seemed like a booming voice " SO you think getting the strap is funny", when done I apologized, to him, to her and to the class and I did it with sincerity.... I then asked if this could stay at school as I didn't want my parents to find out about it....they agreed when I volunteered to help tutor some kids and help with gym set up for any of the meets.....it worked, It didn't go home, I made up a story re the bandages on both hands....

Found out years later, that my parents had been told about the incident, and never brought it up, as apparently my attitude had changed....a little bit of blood and blisters will do that....

My dad had a different punishment for me back then, I was made to stand and watch him work for 20 minutes, I couldn't more, or speak, if I did it started over, I went almost 5 hours one time, it was the worst for a kid labeled he has ants in is pants....I still don't like being still.....

Hitting kids in any way is not the right way to discipline them imo. Consequences are the way to deal with bad behaviour same a real life as an adult. I have never hit my kids and they are respectful to others because my wife and I spent the time with them to ensure they know what is wrong or right. WE raised them not the tv or daycare.

Why do you feel its ok to spank a kid but not ok to spank your employee when he or she breaks something or does something wrong?

Just because it was done to you doesn't mean it is right.

You are lucky dude, i wish i could raise my kids not a dayhome that half asses it. Sad part is they will pick up and learn what they see...i can't control that...not yet anyways, they are still too young.

If i could spank an employee, id have a more productive plant...

1. Spanking is not beating. I don't ever remember a spanking hurting at all, but it was effective.
2. IMO, spanking is not to teach your kids what's right or wrong. Spankings are deserved when children do something they already know is wrong.
3. Spanking is not an effective way of dealing with an employee - it would be more of a get out of jail free card. Their ultimate punishment is losing their ability to put food on the table, at least temporarily.

It's simple. When the frontier's came here over a hundred years ago you would have been working at the age 12 earning your own keep. Money was hard to come by and scarce. With each generation it gets worse. Lets put it this way, you want more for your kids then you had from your childhood. Not in all cases but for most the quality of life is better for your kids then it was for you. Ask yourself if you feel your kids have more now then you did at there age and Im sure you will agree its way better. I fear its gonna get worse, and eventually a crackdown will have to happen. Lord help us if the govt feels the need to regulate anything more but this is the result of this sense of entitlement kids feel the have today.

Kids that have to much time on there hands will find something to fill the void and its usually non-productive activities.

Good point, we're now starting to see the impacts of millenials now that they have entered the work force and are able to make a measurable impact. Fewer of them are working and they are generally earning lower wages than the generation before them. With any luck, the pendulum will swing naturally when their underprivileged children start to buck up and work for a better life.

While there at it they should pass the law where it’s illegal to count to ten to your kids. I’ve trained my kids that no means no. When I see parents start counting I feel like spanking the parents . I still remember every last detail the last time I got the belt as a kid. My wife and I have used a different approach with our kids and it is working for now. Every kid is different and doesn’t come with a manual, key is figuring it out and be consistent. We have other parents tell us all the time how good our kids listen, it was a lot of work but if you start early and stick with it , it pays off huge.

I never hit my son when he was growing up, but rest assured there was no doubt in his mind who the boss was!

I knew people who couldn't take their kids to the restaurant cause they'd be swinging off the lights, the lady asked my dad why me and my brother were so behaved, she's like what do we do kill them, that's the mentality now a days I got whacked a few times, it taught me to teach me what I needed, they never had control, my mom watched her plead with her son in town cause he locked her out of the car, she begged him to let her in, probably took him for an ice cream cone after, i woulda put my fist right through that window lol

I heard something recently I liked as far as parenting goes.......I'm going to ask you, I'm going to tell you, then I'm going to make you. There is no reason not to have conversation with your kids and explain things sometimes but it drives me crazy when I see kids not put in line. Make small corrections drive straight by the time you have to make big ones your already in the ditch.

The thing to remember about spanking is to hurt the pride, not the body. It's an attention getter in most cases. A dose of reality if you will. This straightup touchy feely only way of raising kids these days is horse $hit. All it creates is weak in conviction kids.

I got spanked, that old farmboy/cop hand my dad had was 28" across when I was a kid. But I'll tell you what, afterwards I got a talking to about why I got spanked, told they love me and made sure I never did it again. I respect both my parents and appreciate how they raised us kids. A spanking never hurt me one bit.

I get so down when I think about this topic. The conversation seems to be more frequent. An epi pen costs some people, businesses or public places up to $350, yet we’re handing out free fentynol life saving shots like there candy. Listen to a police scanner for 20 mins one night. Depressing. Same guy od’s twice in one night. Gets revived. TWICE in the same night. Yea our kids and school is a real Chit show. Can’t take a Penut butter and jelly samich to school. Can’t swat or scold a kid without feelings being hurt. But right now we got a grown ass man leading our country that’s changed the lyrics to our national anthem, senior citizens that paid taxes there entire life living in poverty while migrants poor into our country on yours and mine dime. I checked the headlines today when I got to my shop and you know what I read. Service Canada to drop the titles Mr and Mrs because it’s not gender neutral. WTF is wrong with this country right now. Our gender neutral leader was already picked before I got the chance to vote. Let that sink in. When I was leaving my house to go to the polls to vote he was celebrating victory. GTFO.

I hope they just keep the cameras on him and let him talk, even the most diehard liberals must cringe when they hear some of this stuff.
