I'm in the same boat, would LOVE a new alpha but afraid in a few years parts wont be around :( Pontiac all over again

How many ppl are thinking this? How much do you think this is gong to effect sales this year. I don’t imagine they’re about to close the door after they made a bunch of engine changes.

I personally don't think it will happen. Totally different scenario than the previous 2 times. This time they have a multi billion dollar company covering there butt and are not stand alone like the previous times. I saw the first time live in person. Was at Waldheim, Sask. at the sno pro races. All the Cat factory riders showed up with their race sleds in pickup trucks instead of the big race trailers. The bank was repossessing all the equipment at race end. Bob Elsner purposely wrecked his sled on the back stretch of the last lap. I heard him say to a team member "Repossess that you SOB's". Lol. Was wild to say the least.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
I’d be more worried about Doo G4 parts myself. That platform is breaking down all the time. What was the wait for a new engine under warranty, two months or more? You wanna talk about parts availability, once the g4 production stops she gonna a loooong time waiting on parts. They aren’t gonna fire up a production run just to keep customers Happy. They don’t gaf. Hahaha Doodoo.

I'm not worried about getting g4 parts. I don't even have a g4...

I think Kane just tried some of his new batch. No wait times for the 2 motors we did at our store. but.....thanks for trying. Lol

Yeah Ive never had problems getting parts for my 800 etec, and its been out of production a couple years now.

If Cat stays in business won't be an issue either. BUT in the event they do go under then what?

Will the aftermarket step up? Used parts maybe? Liquidation left over stock?

Just wondering, never dealt with a sinking ship before.

I think manufacturers have to supply parts for a certain number of years I was told. I think what will happen is someone will buy Cat from Textron if they drop them. We have heard rumors of a company that is very interested in acquiring them. Who that is remains to be seen. A lot has to happen obviously.

I cant be the only one. It certainly sucks that a person needs to think like this though. Even if they don't go unde4 but become some lame textron knockoff i wouldnt want one. Anytime a million dollar business touches a mom and pop outfit everything goes downhill.....this isnt an episode of dragons den or shark tank imo...this is a billionaire eco warrior who bought one of the best machines out there to quash it...

Ever see who killed the electric car ??? Feel like early 2000s all over again. Just not on the streets.

are you guys delusional? Are there any actual facts that Cat is going under? Posting 2016 financials is far from factual evidence that the company is in current jeopardy. Has anyone of you read the 2020 engine changes post? Super exciting things happening right now, Seems like you guys might be smarter than the current management at Arctic Cat....why would Textron go through the effort of fine tuning an already awesome power plant if they were going to mothball the plant in a few weeks? What a bunch of f'n bull****!

Post some facts!

me thinks many of the posters on this thread are plain scared that another brand may be putting out better product than their brand...

Well, they came close to going under but Textron Bought them. Textron has also restructured they whole Arctic Cat ensemble. Maybe they are trying to save the snowmobile line up. Who really knows. True facts are they can't seem to sell what they have been producing as most dealers have a lot of non current units to sell. I would say that the Arctic Cat lineup is under the radar, but hey its a free world you ride the **** out of what ever floats your boat. I doubt the Arctic Cat name is done, but I cant see how it will continue on the path it is if it isn't selling. :twocents:

I’m not trying to brand bash (I’m on an Alpha) I just don’t see as much proclimbs out there as there used to be and around 7 and 8 years ago Every second sled was a m series that I have seen. I still ride with lots of cats I’m just noticing less of them in other groups out there. Didn’t intend for that to sound like poor sales numbers or a brand going under like others are saying.

I’ll say this, I’d really like to try out an Alpha, I’m not 100% sold on the idea yet. I’d also like to find a twin rail 2019 hardcore..

If cat came out with a sled that was a 850 or 900 they’’d pick up market shares. Same if they took the XX and turned it into a machine with 200hp with more travel and width. Cat is so close to being a legitimate top seller but they keep hoping their current machines that are under powered and under suspended will somehow revive them.

Textron didn’t so much need to trim the fat as much as they needed to produce machines that did the same thing the OG thundercat did for sleds in ‘93. Don’t match your more successful competition, surpass them and create a whole new level. Cat has solid machine foundations they just need to step it up and watch the units sell themselves.

Was Textron not affiliated with Polaris at one time? Anybody remember how that all happened and why they seperated? I can't remember for the life of me. I think it was beneficial to Polaris if I remember right.
