Well the busiest Weekend of the year for the AB Snowmobile club is behind us and was a huge success. 265 riders in the poker rally, and a ton of fun for both participants and volunteers. we have sold over 350 trail passes this year and 140 day passes with 200-ish card carrying members. Thanks to all
Our trails are being groomed again this week and by all accounts are in great shape all things considered including low snow and freezing rain.
The AB Beach Snowmobile club maintains the closest trail system to West Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Sony Plain, AND if you live in Lac.St.Anne County and sled YOU need to get involved.
Fort Saskatchewan used to have a great trail system close to the city, now it's gone and without more local vocal support we could easily face the same fate. What would it take to get YOU more involved in the club? We typically meet once a month October through April. We attempt to organize club rides 2 weekends a month based on conditions, sometimes on our trails other times we visit other clubs trails. Feel free to float out any ideas you may have which might increase the likelihood of you becoming involved such as;
-Meetings closer to the city, right now our meetings are typically in AB Beach, is location an issue and would you be more likely to attend if in Spruce/Stony.
-Meetings included a more social feel, dinner/drinks/activities.
-General meetings used to be on weekends and include an organized ride before or after, would this appeal to the membership?
And it's not all about the meetings, most people who volunteer once tend to have a great time and come back again. Our General meeting kicks off the season just after the sled show with a 20 minute meeting followed by a wine/cheese social including sled videos and in the past has included activities such as beacon searches. Our Annual spring wind up party includes a BBQ, Camping, bon-fire, games and a live band.
I would encourage folks to take a few moments to think about what YOU would like to see from your club, fresh ideas, how can we make it more appealing, what will make you WANT to be involved?
Post'em up....lets hear it.
