Sbr and myself had '98 and '99 summit 670x's and we were banging away at a steep slope trying to himark each other... A friend of ours bought one of the first 2003 rev summits, and had it on his very first trip(with the new sled), and he sat at the bottom for a while. Then while curtis and i were pounding on the hill, he pinned her right to the top of the mountain we were pounding away at.... That was "the gamechanger", bar none, period! We were amazed at this machine. A true stock mountain machine putting our modded 670's to shame....

Seen the same scenario back in ‘93.....i
Pair of guys on Polaris 500 efi SKS with all the lightweight gear and plastic paddles... worked over a hill for an hour... then the short track & no paddles Thundercat showed up and blew over the hill like it wasn’t even there.

Real “Game changers” are items that the rest of the industry adopts...

like forward mounted engines, slide rail suspensions, forward rider positioning, and EFI ...

In regards to "rev" and the rider forward position.... look up the Fast Blade. the rider-forward has its roots in the aftermarket like most other innovations on sleds. None of the production sleds were really "game changers" other than being offered in production.

The real game changers to me are the Tison's, Price Performance's, Fabcraft's, for the mountains and the outlaw sleds, like Wahl Bros and CrankShop for the eastern guys. Anytime the aftermarket guys have improved a sled, the manufacturers have copied those changes.

As far as Clutching Polaris came out with there own Primary in 1972 just about identical to what they use today with the exception clutch cover was opened up in 1985 being called P 85.They came out with there own Secondary in 1976 on the TX series,it was the performance setup for years that other brands could not match.

I had a 1980 Blizzard 5500 and went to a brand new 95 Formula 500F, pretty much the same engines.... but what a difference in suspension and reliability.
2003 Rev by far the biggest game changer, of them all.

Looking at the overall history I'd have to agree with the '03 Rev. Triangulated frame and rider forward concept.

I like your style LHF.... I bought a wedge chassis totally in pieces in 2010...lexan clear hood triple piped 1200 price motor 174 3 inch absolutely insane sled...some guy from Rocky Mountain House wanted to trade me a 2011 m8 turboed cat but wanted to drag race me for 2 different prices depending who won the 1/8 mile... needless to say the wedge mod destroyed his m8 3 times....after the race day I was not interested in his cat one little bit.....sled went up North then to boondocker for 300 hp nos kit retro fit....lost track who has it today... nothing sounds better than a triple.... sweet music...

What do you guys think was the greatest game changer in snowmobile history? I have 2. The 2003 SkiDoo Rev and the 1979 Polaris Indy.

Good choices I would add the first article cats with slide rail suspension
