Best ski...loaded question. What one person likes in a ski, the next person does not. On my 04-06 Summits, I had simmons, then switched to MODS, and loved them. Great powder ski, and literally is like putting power steering on the sled. Sold them with my last doo. On the M-chassis, I bought and tried the following skis: C&A outlaw XT's, Slydog Powder Hounds (7"), Stock, SLP Powder Pros, USI Triple Threats, USI VX301's, and MODS. The MODS again were my first choice for powder, hands down. Close second would be the Powder Pros - not as easy to turn or hold a sidehill, but they are certainly more flexible. I never broke a bridge on a set, but I have bent one before. The Outlaw's steered heavy and were too aggressive for my tastes - I like a light feeling ski. Slydogs? A bit wider then the stockers, but not any better in performance IMHO. The colors are sharp, though...
Ask yourself what you want that your stock ski cannot provide, and do your research.

I agree with oneoldfart!...All depends what you're wanting. Ive had the 7" Powder hounds on my '07 summit and loved them. When i had my '04 rev short track i had the most aggressivve c&a ski they made and not sure the name. They were amazing on the trails almost too agressive your arms are wore out by the end of the day. I bought some new 8" powder hounds put havnt tried them yet but excited to. Aswell they are the sharpest looking skis out there to dress up your ride!

I have powder hounds on my turbo apex and love the way they handle. They are a very flexible and forgiving ski.

So for deep snow riding slydogs are the way to go. Are they good for mainly Side hilling and boondocking?

Anyone try the Simmons 3 as they have the different runners than the one and the two. Tried the Simmons one on XP and didn't like them as much as the Pilots with woodys doolys for skags.

Gen 3 are great for powder conditions. A little on the heavy side. Were running the short runners on em. They don't dart on the trail, very agressive and will hold your turn at all costs. This is really nice compliment with the 3" track as the track pushes more.

I am the only canadian retailer for mods skis. And here comes the sales pitch im sure you are all thinking LOL. Lightweight, tough as sh#t and im pretty sure you wont find a better price. Pretty much any color under the sun and a unique keel desighn that improves side hilling without sacrificing stability and control on the trails. Check them out at let me know if i can help. I will be placing an order in the next week or two and for group orders i will be offering a discount aswell it reduces shipping costs.

Good to know, so that means Curtis is no longer selling them? What is the turnaround time on getting them and do you carry them in stock Deano? I would have mentioned Mods, however a family friend had them on their last sled and getting new bottoms was an issue when his needed replacing. With the sale of the company from canada to the US, they were only running limited numbers or only selling limited numbers to Canada or something like that from what I remember being told. It took almost 3 months to get a new set of bottoms in for his skis, sure they are a great ski but if you can't get them or get replacement parts.....? Let me know, PM me if you want.

What type of sled do you have them on? And how much did they cost?

I dont know if it is really worth the money to buy aftermarket skis anymore??? I think the stock skis that come on these sleds nowadays are pretty good. Cheap if you need to replace them too.

I have the C&A MTX skiis on my project black sled and they are a dream in the powder I absolutely love them!!!!! But let me tell you they are not very trail friendly using them on the trail to get to those areas can be a bit of a nightmare. They have a really long keel on them which is excellent for powder but needs some strong arming on the trail at times!!! Here is a link to a profile on them.

Ah, I see. Depending on what you ride, I would just buy some new stockers to put on. Friend of mine just replaced his on his XP with the new pilots for a couple hundred bucks. They seem to be a great ski.

Ya I have an XP as well maybe that better then putting after market skis on it plus I already know what they ride like.
