I come from a line of etrepeuners and I have never really worked for anyone else and I know a lot of very successful buisness people. So thats why I have the opinions I do I suppose.

If my dad hadn't been a sucssesful buisness man and had worked for a big company and encouraged me to pursue a degree and a high paying job my views would be different I'm sure.

I like seeing other people's thoughts on the matter though.
Lots of different paths to get to the end results.

awesome answer and 100% agree. I got my business degree and international trade and did the corporate thing for 6 years until I got my confidence to start my own company and never turned back working for myself.

Does he want to work for a company and climb the corporate ladder or would he rather own the ladder?

If it were me I'd tell him to learn about sales, buisness, taxes, insurance, realestate, stocks, bonds and law. Learn to understand financial statements and difference between assets and liabilities. Skip the student loans and find a mentor. Sacrifice some comfort and security when you are young. invest in assets, build assets and don't be average. Make a financial plan and stick to it. Set goals and write them down.

Do all this and he would be a very wealthy man and not have to be stuck in the 9 to 5 rat race for the next 50 years.

Here are my thoughts:

There are 2 kinds of people, Can Do and Can't Do. As a owner of 2 businesses and a staff of 20+ people the employees that go farthest are those that make my life easier and not those that make it more difficult.

Secondly if you want to have money in your pocket, don't by a sled.

That's not that great, welding rigs can't be cheap.
It all goes back to how smart you are with your money, you could get 10 years outa a 5.9 Cummings, or the other day I seen a pipeline rig made out of a early 1980s crew cab gmc not sure what the driveline was but coolist rig ever, tons of old rigs out there.
