What makes money now adays?

I was divorced at 30, I know how it goes. Semi retired at 32 and now back full time going for the big bucks.
A woman can ruin you, have to be smart about it for sure. Limited companies, off shore accounts, gold, bitcoin, hitmen ext.... JK about the hitmen...lol

One thing I tell work experience students and first years is do something you are good at, and don’t waste your time trying to learn to do something that doesn’t come naturally. find your niche! Loving your job is a perk, not a necessity. After all it’s a job, we’re all looking for a way to not have to do it any more. If you are really good at something you will always have a place in the market. Everyone is good at something, nobody is good at everything.

I didn't read all the posts.
But the trades is a great start.
Myself I am a Millwright. Decent cash with that.
Another section to make big bucks is Safety.
If you can sell it. Companies pay big for it. But you'd have to own/operate a company in safety to make coin.

Yes to all of the above ideas but you have to apply yourself to achieve your goals.....no I mean really apply yourself, youth's entitlement not allowed.
Have been in oil and gas almost full career and their is big coin even working for the man...but must apply yourself to be in the top 2-3% where the bigger money is....250K+.
Even in today's market it is still there for some at the top.
Can start with a trade but that is the hard route - school is the easier route.
You better like intense pressure at work though.

So much depends on what type of work they are suited for. Some days I wonder how much different things would have been if I went the school route instead of trades, but then again i'd go insane sitting in an office all day.
Running your own business has so many perks but so many downsides, and yea you need to be suited to it. Investments are huge. Even making $200k a year unless you invest it, you'll still be working forever. Just saving your pennies won't get you too far. I went with rental properties. If a 2006ish peak repeats itself, the payday will be incredible.
I can't say I love my work or anything, it's meh. It's more liking the money. Some days i'd definitely trade it all in for a $200k 40 hour office job, but other times I wouldn't. When it's -20 outside and i'm swearing up a storm fixing something i'd do it in a second. But when i'm running to the bank after having a day I made $10k, I sure as hell wouldn't.

Environmental Science. 2 years college with a university transfer for bachelor or 3 years in college with a practicum for the same degree. many doors can be opened with this degree.
A 250k job is a good living for sure. I do business with guys that are my age that are worth 100's of millions of dollars. You can't get to that level working for someone else just selling your time though.

you cant get to 100's of million of dollars without putting your self at risk either. Some make it and lots don't. The majority of the world works for somebody prior to building an empire.
Lots of risks involved with getting to that level for sure. And not the route most people should take Id agree,

Not alot of jobs pay 200k for 40 hr/week.....
Reality is average working class 40hr /wk wage is 50-75k/year. Most trades staff I work with are 35-40/hr, Contractors obviously are higher. Electrical $75-85/HR, plumbing/gas fitter$55/75.
Best advise is to find something you like to do and you will be successful. I made great money working up north but hated every 2 week shift. Now at home I make less but enjoy every day, life is to short to be unhappy.
If you are making 250k a year and have money or early retirement issues.........then a person don't deserve the 250 a year.
If you can't manage a really nice paycheck it is unlikely you have the ability and drive to make a go at making millions on your own.
Best to keep workin for the man if you struggle.
Never met a self made millionaire that was a slacker.....but have met a lot of slackers that complain and have big dreams.
Tough go on your own and you need money to make money.
Striking out on your own not so easy, very very very few ever make it.
Be careful before you send your kids down that path.

It definitely takes drive to do well in buisness.
Can't get a 250k job without a fair amount of drive either though.
I agree a lot of people are better off working for someone else though. And if a person invests wisely a comfortable retirement shouldn't be a problem at all.
If you want to retire that is. My grandma is 88 and still working at her buisness. She could have retired comfortably 30 years ago had she wanted.
Conversation is about what makes money. First thing a person needs to do imo is decide how much $ they need for the life they want and that will give you a good idea on what you need to do in life.
Imo the world needs more entrepreneurs so that is my recommendation to the young people that ask me.
