Pretty sure an Etec would shut off Automatically before it started on fire. I won't be trying that theory out though.

My 91 Indy 400 was owned by 3 family members and it was sold with about 25000 miles on it. I rolled 10000 myself and sold it to my brother with about 17000 on it. The engine was never overhauled. And still held 8000rpm at wot, at the time of the sale.
I know there is lots of air flow at 85mph but that sled saw 3-4 min stints at wot. But we had the trails to do that on back east.

I'm a big fan of the Fuji engine! It was nothing for us to put up to 4- 5000 miles a year on.
I sold my 97 xcr 600 with 6000 miles on it, also a Fuji engine to buy my xc 440 race sled. First Polaris built engine with ves I owned, if memory serves me right it was the first time exhaust valves were on a engine Polaris used. The 440 engine was stout and fast, but got sick of trying to keep the exhaust valves clean and jetted properly to run right, That was the last Polaris I owned!
