I think some of the problem is some parents don't want to admit that their kid might have some mental issues! It's always after the fact that it was,'I had no idea or there was no signs' bullsh.. !!!Spend some time with your kids or make time for your kids!Where's the dad?Why let video games or tv raise your kids? What is the percentage of these guys that go and do something like this come from broken homes? My wife's sister has a couple of mentally effed up kids (mid 20's and 30's) living at home and my kids are not allowed to go over there anymore because one of these times they're going to snap and I don't want my kids around for that!In there case some of it was self induced(drugs) and quite a bit is genetic and the way they were raised (their dad is a dipsh..)!!But a lot of these kids now a days seem to be lacking a conscience!I have guns and I'm raising my kids around and teaching them to use guns! But they also realize once you squeeze that trigger there is no taking it back! There is no reset button! And they realize when something gets shot it is nothing like you see on tv!Maybe start looking at the parents also instead of just blaming the guns everytime!I'm not a gun fanatic by any means but I also feel there is no reason anyone needs a gun that falls under the restricted weapon designation, your right or not! Some people are just wired crazy and as a parent I feel if my kid goes out and does something like this I would feel responsible for not spotting something wrong with them and would hope a councilor or teacher would care enough to point it it to me that there might be an issue!!But no on seems to give a ch!t till after the damage is done!!

The problem with Mental Illness is that society has not accepted it as an "ILLNESS". Catch a cold, your ill, break a leg your ill, have heart disease your ill; however if you are truly diagnosed with mental illness, your a fawkin quack! Seen this first hand, my mother struggled with this for years. Mental Illness cannot be swept under the carpet anymore, it is an "ILLNESS"!

In regards to guns: Guns don't kill people, people kill people! (I have not read this entire thread so if I repeat this, my apologizes.)

Think of it this way, If this person would have used a snowmobile as his method of destruction, would we want to ban snowmobiles?

If there is a mental illness than treat the illness, don't take away our right to own guns if we so choose to own one!
