What is the riding style in golden

You guys need a reputable guide to take you into the mountains. If you can not identify avalanche terrain, you won’t be able to access hazard. Accessing hazard is difficult at best snowmobiling, even with years of experience. There are a lot of meatheads out there doing stupid stuff and it can be misleading or deadly. Take care and have fun.

Was thinking about heading out to golden for a weekend of riding. we are begginers just started riding this year. What is the style of riding in golden. is there hills to climb or open areas with powder. and is there avalanch activity out there as none of us have the proper equipment so we try to avoid areas with avalanc activity. If some one could give me some info on golden area that would be great. thanks.

If you leave the parking lot, you need the equipment. Period. Some areas are less hazardous than others, but you never know what mother nature has in store. Also, the shovel and probe belong in your backpack, on your back. NOT on your sleds. Some people aren't aware of this.

x2, I am by no stretch an experienced rider, this si my first year riding mountains, and I love it. Too bad the work is so far away from them hills or I would be on them every weekend. The gear is a MUST, I bought my avy gear before my first trip and have friends that rent. You know 3 or 4 trips out on rentals you could have just bought it.

I have ridden Boulder and about everywhere in Valemount and always looking for other spots. Friends are suggesting Golden but I am leery. Just remember its your life and if you arent comfortable with it tell them so and dont go. I have been there and never regret saying no

Easy, if you haven't rode in the mountains before, hire a guide and get some training and equiptment.
Don't let some of the replies you got discourage you, we're not all assholes trying to ruin your fun. Just some of them. It is a whole different ball game out here but anyone can learn and have a great time doing it.

We were out at Golden last weekend. Tons of new fresh powder (2 ft easily). Sat back and could see a lot of small slides of heavy snow cracking off. Didn't witness any major avalanches tho.

We sled this area a couple of years ago when we started sledding and found it beyond us......as beginners. The area is intermediate to difficult and I would definitely agree. Good groomed trail in leads to a great cabin located at the bottom of the riding areas. Nice wide open spaces, small hills, bowls and really challenging hill climbing areas surrounded by spectacular scenery. But, I wouldn't recommend it without the proper gear....ie: avalanche beacons, poles, shovels and of course your survival gear.

I was surprised by the number of sledders mixed in with the boarders (can't hear nor see them coming) so be alert.

Ride safe and come home!!
